:O If you always crash in NFS (the easiest racing game in which crashes hardly matter), then you cannot even think about proper racing games like Race Driver GRID, Colin Mcrae rally 2, GTR2, Formula One 2002, and even some semi-driving games like MAFIA (So sad you cant play this), Flatout 2.... Maybe even GTA IV...

May be he played NFS Pro Street the controls were horrible on this. It can also be NFS Undercover where everything glows like a bulb, cracks on road also glow (or was this a driver issue on my machine) may be he was shocked to see this and crashed.

And if he is good at crashing then he should definitely try Burnout Paradise after all it is all about crashing.

Games I recommend:
TOCA 3
Colin McRae 2005
Stubbs The Zombie
I-Ninja
Diablo 2
Rise Of Nations
Chronicles of Riddick
Psychonauts
Superbike 2001
Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix
Return To Castle Wolfenstein
Call of Duty
Call of Duty 2
F1 Challenge 99-02
Grand Prix 4
NFS Porsche
Trine (You mentioned Claw so I think you may like this)

Off topic - I tried to play Claw after playing Trine for a while but it is not working on XP. Should have completed this when I was using 98 but got stuck in level 4 and gave up back then. The game gets installed but I get no cd in drive error even though it is there in the dvd drive. Trine is a beautiful game but claw was a really good game.

^CLAW. I second that! Was an awesome adventure game back then. Got engrossed like crazy during my school days. Tried playing on Win 7 - phailed. :'(

@prabs: IIRC it did play on my system when it'd XP + SP2.

@Gannu Found a tutorial here for XP: Claw on XP
Too much hastle considering I will give up after the sewer level - the game becomes so difficult all of a sudden.

There is a thing about the id Tech 3 engine all games using this engine are good. SOF 2, RTCW, COD, MOHAA and Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2 Outcast are good examples of this engine. I recommend try every game using this engine.

Also, Half-Life 2 worked like a charm on my 5200fx so I think they should run well on your system.

Oh I almost forgot to mention these games if you are into horror games:
Condemned - I am glad I played this before Bioshock (Personally I liked this more than Bioshock)
The Suffering: Prison is Hell
The Suffering: Ties That Bind
Aliens vs Predator 1 & 2
Ghost Temple (I am sure I am the only guy who has this game picked it a few years back for 200 bucks. Good game but you need to use joy2key with this game)

A few more games:
Oni (Wish Microsoft had not enslaved Bungie I might have seen Oni 2. Notice some of the sound effects in this game they are reused for Halo)
Sims 2 + Expansions
Chrome Specforce
Sacred
Scarface
Railroad Pioneer (I never touched Railroad Tycoon 3 after playing this game)
Far West
Midnight Club 2

Even I was a big fan of the claw game.

Feeding Frenzy - eat smaller fish to grow bigger and save yourself from bigger fish -very simple and yet addictive. Its not a next generation/modern games but it is what a game means for - FUN

World of Goo - check it yourself, physics based games (not able to complete the demo yet :@)

Braid - mario(platformer) like game with good graphics - fun to play yet challenging puzzle (not able to complete the demo yet :@)

You can try arcade style platform games - which are bit easy on control but very fun to play

Happy Gaming:hap2:

I have completed claw upto 7th level easily.

later it became too hard and used the cheats to finish it.

but even i couldn't complete last level.

but last level is very awesome play.

it will work on xp sp2.

Hi mate if u r interested in first person shooter (Well if u dont know what it is, in these types of games you can see only the gun and everything is seen from the first person perspective )

1) Half life (classic, opposing force, blueshift)

2) Return to castle wolfenstein

3) Medal of honor (Allied assault, pacific assault)

4) Call of duty 1, 2,4

5) Unreal tournament 99 (still love it), 2003, 2004

If you are interested in third person shooter you can go for the following:

1) Metal gear solid 1 & 2

2) MaxPayne 1 & 2 (Awesome ) :hap2:

3) Severance Blade of darkness (Awesome game, not a shooter but very enjoyable, adventurous but a bit difficult )

If you like real time strategy try these

1) Age of empires 1,2,3

2) Empire Earth

3)Monopoly tycoon

4)Age of mythology

Still there are many, but I think u need a discreet gpu to play some of the latest titles

Take care n happy gaming :hap2:

I too found the last two stages very difficult to complete, finally resorted to cheats :bleh:, anyway sad news is that there wont be any severance 2 (I read this somewhere, I dont remember now), by the way were u able to find all the secret stones? If u can find all the stones and if u can get the real power of the sword that u get in the penultimate stage, u can complete the game :D.

GTA Vice City is a great game to start with.
Just walk around anywhere with guns, and steal cars and drive them anywhere you want.
its a lot of fun easy to understand and you dont need to necessarily complete any missions.
its like a free world and it also has good graphics.

BTW Max Payne is the best RPG i have ever played...enjoy

I was a real gaming noobe during those days - so not sure till what level I played - I think its not the last level. I tweaked (cheat) the character strengths n all in the config file of the game. I stucked in one level where there are lots of cloud and not able see anything and when I walk; keep falling down the clif or killed by enemies. I was using the swordman. As I remember; I got one better sword and got some stones also..need to play it again

Severance is a great RPG game.
it has a very nicely crafted world with a good story to go with.
although extremely hard to complete without using cheats.
i could somehow complete the game without using any cheats but had to save and reload saves about 200 times.
that shows how tough the game is.
