Hmm if this is good or bad, but my cpu does 315 x 9 (2845 mhz) Orthos stable with 1.2V set in bios and 1.144 real volts (CPU-z) Vdroop is around 0.016V and the real vcore varies from set vcore by around 0.04V.

Can you guys with E6600 pls test the OCability @ 1.2V set and 1.144V real? That should give me an idea untill I get my cooler. (God knows when)

I am gonna stay below 60C strictly till I get some serious cooling. So i guess i can do 3g with a slight bump in voltage? Say 1.225V set in bios?

Lets see....

Congrats on the Chip Bro... But honestly...Is spending extra worth it over a good overclocking 6400 :P... Mine does 3.6Ghz Stable(6400)... I am running it at stock 2.1Ghz as of now... Going for 6600 after 6400... I feel its more of Peer Pressure then an upgrade :P...
 
It's a good idea to stay < 60C until the Tuniq arrives... and use TAT man, safer option IMO. You saw my idle temps of 51C in TAT right - well CoreTemp reports 47C and I'd rather go with the former TAT :D

Anyway, with the stock cooler I was able to do 360 x 9 @ 1.475v - IIRC, the stock 1.3v allowed me to do upto 310 x 9.

P.S. That chip will do fine, it really depends on who is clocking it ;)

Na re.... not so much peer preesure.... See, my friend to whom I am giving my 6400 wont be ocing it like I plan to. Hence I needed the local warranty. I will set his oc to 3.2ghz (@ 1.375V) and be done with it. But I plan to take this chip a bit further and hence needed that assurance that if something were to go wrong i wont be left on the wrong foot.

@Anish: Heheh... sorry for not answering before. The week is L630A158. Batch is 63 (very lucky number for me)

@RiO: hehe, the best ocer in town wont be able to do much w/o the right hardware. Right? :P I was able to do 350x9 with 1.325V set in BIOS (1.26V loaded real, orthos ofcourse), but temps soared to 67C and therefore i didnt wanna do any damage. I am gonna stick to upper 60 for now.

67C is way too high for 350x9... I'm guessing you used the crappy paste on the stock cooler. Throw in some AS5 and you can do 400x9 and still stay at 60-62C idle :P

I'm at work till 7pm today - come collect your AS5 if you need it to OC that conroe :D

No point in applying AS5 re.. I dont need more CPU Mhz now. When I will do it i will do it properly. I will write out Abhijit's many dvd's today and will come collect them and deposit the dvds.

I have enough As5 with me already. Had ordered a 12.5gm. I dont think I am even half way through it.

also 60-62C idle???? My god.... thats a fukking furnace. I plan to stay BELOW 60 AT Dual Orthos Load. :)

Heheh.... Good or bad?



1.265V set in BIOS. I am scared to Orthos.... + it takes so much time. Hence ran 3d06. Was sure as hell that it wont complete. But hell, it did.

My board is preety decent:

1.265V set in bios.
1.224V idle
and a 0.016Vdroop

I am trying a dual 8m now. But i am damn happy with this OC :)

Load temps are at 55C btw.

Frankly speaking it is kinda discouraging to do any kinda OCing with the crappy Stock cooling.

Let me get some better cooling and then i will try to clock @ 1.2V and let you know.

Well whether i use it or not is immaterial,i will keep it with me no matter what, i have taken pains to make it.I might even use it with CPU n RAM @ Stock !
