The 2015 Figo that will be sold in Brazil is powered by a 1 liter petrol engine that produces 85 Bhp of power and 10.7 Kg-m of torque. The engine is a 3 cylinder motor which is actually the Ecoboost turbo petrol engine without a turbocharger. The turbo charger has been omitted to make the cost of the engine cheaper. The turbocharged version of the engine could be introduced in the Figo at a later stage, maybe on a high performance model.
The 2015 Figo will be a budget car in Brazil. In India, the car will be sold as a premium B segment hatchback that competes with the Maruti Swift and the Volkswagen Polo. The new Figo will be made at Ford’s Sanand factory. Though the new Figo looks a lot different from the present model of the car that’s sold in India, the new car uses the same platform as the older car so that Ford can save money. The savings will allow Ford to price the new Figo competitively.
The new 2015 Figo will also result in a new compact sedan. The compact sedan was displayed at the Delhi Motor Show. Called the Figo compact sedan, the car measures less than 4 meters in length which means that it will be a competitor of the Maruti Dzire and the Honda Amaze. The Figo compact sedan will be launched in India as a replacement to the Ford Classic. An India launch in 2015 or 2016 is expected.
