The 2015 Figo that will be sold in Brazil is powered by a 1 liter petrol engine that produces 85 Bhp of power and 10.7 Kg-m of torque. The engine is a 3 cylinder motor which is actually the Ecoboost turbo petrol engine without a turbocharger. The turbo charger has been omitted to make the cost of the engine cheaper. The turbocharged version of the engine could be introduced in the Figo at a later stage, maybe on a high performance model.

The 2015 Figo will be a budget car in Brazil. In India, the car will be sold as a premium B segment hatchback that competes with the Maruti Swift and the Volkswagen Polo. The new Figo will be made at Ford’s Sanand factory. Though the new Figo looks a lot different from the present model of the car that’s sold in India, the new car uses the same platform as the older car so that Ford can save money. The savings will allow Ford to price the new Figo competitively.

The new 2015 Figo will also result in a new compact sedan. The compact sedan was displayed at the Delhi Motor Show. Called the Figo compact sedan, the car measures less than 4 meters in length which means that it will be a competitor of the Maruti Dzire and the Honda Amaze. The Figo compact sedan will be launched in India as a replacement to the Ford Classic. An India launch in 2015 or 2016 is expected.

The 1.0 litre has 85 BHP, much more than the current figo, and it is only 01 BHP less than the petrol Amaze and it being a small engine, has great fuel economy.

Just on the looks alone they have finally managed to nail it. That said I almost bought a Figo for its price and dual air bags when I was looking for a car few years back.

I know you have i20. What made you chose that and what other cars had you considered?

I had a budget cap of 6L ex-showroom and I wanted dual airbags. That limited my options to Swift, i20, Polo, Figo, Liva, Brio and Jazz.

I was not so much concerned about how the car looks from the outside than inside because that is where I will spend most of my time. So it has to be comfortable, feature rich and look good too. I knocked off Swift, Figo and Liva for that reason as they had cheap looking plastic and really bad interiors. Liva did not even have the piping along the doors.

The top end model of Polo was slightly over my budget so I did not give it much consideration.

Then I knocked off Brio as it was too small. I booked Jazz as it was spacious and it was a Honda car. German>Japanese>Korean>Indian. But then it had a 6 month waiting period and then the floods in SE Asian countries happened that pushed the delivery dates even further.

So it came down to i20 which checked all the boxes. I loved the newer Maharaja Red color as they called it. It was different from the berry red color of previous generation i20. I had to wait a month as I did not want to take delivery of the car which was lying in their warehouse for past 5 months.

Less than 6 months after I bought it they released a newer iteration of the i20. I cursed them for 5 minutes and then went about my life as they had crossed my budget cap of 6L anyway with the newer models. To this day there are not many cars whose interiors are better than that of i20.

Of course @bottle helped me a lot with his pointers.

Yeah i20 is indeed a good car and I have seen pics and such. Just that the AT version is too pricey for me (I think I have to learn MT driving well whenever I start) and it doesn't enjoy the safety features of the MT Asta(O), 6 freaking airbags .

Why didnt you consider the Fabia.

Better interiors than the polo + more spacious + cheaper. And Fabia and the Polo are basically the same car underneath.
