According to the magazine, Ninja Gaiden III will focus “more deeply on Ryu Hayabusa’s life and lifestyle and feelings and thoughts,” with Hayashi describing him as “a dark Japanese hero.”

“We are trying to take the violent concepts even deeper and make people realize how it feels to actually kill someone and what it is to actually gut someone,” he said. “It’s very important to us that people realize that violence is not only about blood and gore.”

Hayashi mentioned that “there won’t be new playable characters,” in the game, and the team is taking a different approach to the game’s difficulty level.

“We know that many fans feel good about the difficulty level, but we are taking a slightly different approach,” he explained. “It’s not that the game’s going to be easier – nothing like that. It’s just that we are trying to make a whole game, a more exciting game that can be enjoyed by anyone.

“But at the same time, hardcore gamers will be able to feel and appreciate what the series is about.”

Hayashi went on to say the game would include a “complex multiplayer mode,” and than any word on whether it would support Move or not was a closely guarded secret.

No word on a release date yet, but the game is expected to get a full reveal during E3 in June.

It's good they aren't introducing more playable characters. It was boring playing Rachel's missions in Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I think they went one step ahead in Sigma 2 and introduced multiple playable characters, right? Ayane & Momiji was it?

Also when they say “It’s very important to us that people realize that violence is not only about blood and gore.” I hope Hayashi isn't going the "purple mist" way like they did in Sigma 2. The teaser looks very promising, I hope they retain that level of brutality. Decapitation = Blood ≠ Purple mist.

^Personally hated the enemies spewing purple mist after they were dismembered. I wonder why the PS3 port even had such drastic changes compared to the X360 version. And yes, nothing beats Ryu in terms of the sheer brutal nature of his gameplay.

Now that the game has a completely new developer at work (read Yosuke Hayashi), I hope they do retain the good things the previous 2 titles had and get rid of the shortcomings.

This month’s issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine has a great preview of Team Ninja’s upcoming Ninja Gaiden 3, including some of the first screens of the game. Unfortunately, we are bringing these somewhat fuzzy images of the images because, hey, it’s 5 o’clock and most of your are probably on your way home anyway. Also released were some details about the title, which you can see below along with the scans. Also, please note we are going to be seeing the game up-close and personal at this year’s E3 expo in just a couple week’s time!

The first Details:
60 frames per second
Blood is back
Difficulty level won’t be toned down for casual gamers
There will be both competitive and cooperative modes. One or both will support up to 8 players
The store is gone. Weapons will upgrade over time
Greater emphasis on story
May feature Move support

Blood has returned, graphics have changed and f*ckin QTE's have been added. WTF? Why are they taking the Ninja Blade approach? Ryu's right arm seems to be growing some sort of infection and his eyes have turned green. Could he be turning into one of those fiends? There is a sliding ability to traverse faster. The walkthrough videos showed ample blood being splattered, but no decapitation and limbs falling off, like Ninja Gaiden 2 had when you used the Obliteration technique. I also noticed health regenerating and then read the above post, only to realize that Muramasa's shop won't be available. I have a bad feeling about this. :(

yup..I played some ninja gaiden on the x360(dont remember the name) played for around 3-4 hours..THe boss battles I encountered in that short time I played were freakin hard!

Yeah. I think that's why in the back of my mind i have always avoided playing this game :'|

Oh, come on, the boss battles were just a bit challenging, not very hard.
A friend told me that he couldn't even complete the tutorial on the xbox. That's scary shit.

Sent from my Motorola Defy.

The Ninja Gaiden series have always been challenging alright but maybe nothing in the likes of Demon's Souls. The X360 versions more specifically, were even harder and I suppose this has been discussed in the other thread before.

The new E3 trailer does not seem to reveal much. An actual in-game footage depicting Ryu's moves and slashes should be more appropriate. I'll reserve my judgments until then.

Dude, check the Game Trailer link I have posted above. It has around 15 minutes actual in-game gameplay footage, including a boss fight. :P

Thinking of playing this game, is there a easy(pussy) difficulty in the game ?

Which game? Which console?

If Ninja Gaiden Sigma series, then the first game, by default puts you on 'Path of the Ninja' difficulty (Normal mode). Die enough times (which you will) and it will ask you 'Do you want to abandon the Path of the Ninja?', select YES and it will drop the difficulty to 'Ninja Dog' mode (Easy mode). Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 has 'Path of Acolyte' difficulty, which is equivalent to easy mode. On the PS3, 'Path of Acolyte' mode is very easy. I picked 'Path of Warrior' (Normal mode) and was able to breeze through the first level, while on the same difficulty level in NG2 on the 3shitty, I got raped in the first chapter. :P

Remember to block and counter as much as you can. It's all about learning the attack patterns and being on guard at all times. The off-screen projectiles would piss you off at times, but it's not that difficult.

Looks really awesome , DMC series should learn from it.BTW MGS Rising will look like a slow motion of NGS 3.
