Finally! The Nintendo Switch 2 is real, has been revealed, and you can watch it spin about a bit | VG247

Nothing has been confirmed yet. Literally just a teaser trailer.
Though I am actually curious as to why there would be a big demand for it, considering handhelds are becoming more common. And that steam game prices are so much cheaper.
 
I guess they had plans for a bigger reveal but last one has been full of Switch 2 info leaks after CES 2025
so they have hurriedly released a teaser, and the main event will now be on 2nmd April which will have all the details including new game launches

Could have done better still.
and such a long wait for full reveal . Will kill the excitement for many.
Ofcourse they have their fanbase and might still be able to do a great job on 2nd April .
But as of now very poor and like you mentioned hurried reveal .

I've heard emulation is an option for switch games.

I like their exclusives as well. Did have a switch at one point & loved BotW on it. Mario Odyssey was a decent play as well. Yet to play Totk though.
But the premium of an entire console justified just for a few games doesn't make sense to me, especially since the overall prices aren't adjusted for India and the lack of a vibrant used switch game ecosystem.

Else I'd probably still have held onto my old switch.

Emulation is certainly an option but switch emulation isn't quite there yet, let alone switch 2, what with nintendo's war on emulation getting emulator casualties left, right and center.

True but Ryujinx development is still ongoing I think.
Also switch emulation I've heard works better than the actual console itself, as the original console is so underpowered.

And yea, Nintendo's war on emulation might delay Switch 2 emulation. And it's understandable. Emulating current gen consoles eats into their margin.

Personally while I like their games, I'm far too value conscious to splurge on a switch for their exclusives.
Most of the games on my steam & Epic library are still yet to be played. And a whole bunch of them are actually very good games.

Gaming is slowly turning into Pokemon. Just keep collecting them games but the majority of them will just stay unopened.

Yep, agreed with everything you just said, if i stop buying games till i finish my backlog, i will probably not buy another game till i die XD

I wish they kept the blue and red colored joycons. Accent colors are nice and all but this kinda looks like every other handheld out there. Those colored joycons gave a nice personality to it.
