Hi,

At my workplace HDD of one of machine have crashed. It has project related important data. It is not getting detected in Disk Management, Diskpart -> List Disk. In BIOS, i can see entry of SATA port#. But it just says 0.0MB; not even model number of HDD.

I guess this HDD have crashed. How can i recover data from it ? I want to recover ~80GB from D Drive of it.

If at all I need to use a Recovery Service, what could be approx cost for it ?

Regards.

You better run the disk diagnostic tools provided by the Hard Disk Manufacturer. For Seagate - Seatools (http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools), For Western Digital - Data Lifeguard Diagnostic (http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?level1=6&lang=en). Try both the tools in the DOS Mode and check whether any auto recovery is possible. If nothing is possible, then connect your HDD to a different PC and try one of these Recovery Tools :

1)easus data recovery wizard(a free edition with limited features is available for download from their website)

2)Recover My Files -Get Data(proprietary software)

3)Acronis Disk Doctor (Proprietary Software)

I have tried it in different computer but its same. Also in BIOS same it just shows 0.0MB.

Also to run diagnostic tools provided by HDD manufacturer do we need OS ? or can we run them in Bootable mode like Hiren's Boot CD ?

You can run the diagnostic tools from windows also, but for better results its recommended to copy those tools onto a CD/Floppy/USB and boot from that media and then run the diagnostic tests.
