GUYS, AGAIn after 2 reformats and all, the problem keeps coming back.

And I dont know WHY!!!

It was working since last week. I havn't installed ANY NEW SOFTWARE..

But here, today morning, THE SAME PROBLEM. WMP can't play.

NO SOUND anywhere... Is it the HARDWARE? Should I RMA the motherboard???

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, this is the strangest problem I've encountered with Win7 so far.

See 2 days ago, my computer acted up and wont play any songs, any SOUND except the startup, shutdown and the notification sounds(in-built windows sounds)

WMP wont play anything, the message comes as:

"Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing this file"

Even VLC wont play sound, movies work without sound. Games work without sound.

I reinstalled the drivers, nothing.

---------

SO, I reinstalled the OS yesterday, and everything was working again.

But today again the same problem. WTF man.

I've installed the following sound tools:

1. Realtek HD 2.57 x64

2. VIA HD Audio Deck

Please help, this is really irritating. Also, my motherboard is the ASUS 785G TDV-EVO if you wanna noe, the sound chip is VIA's AFAIK.

your mobo have got VIA chips for audio purpose, then why did you install Realtek HD, try uninstalling the HD driver

therz seems to be some conflict in audio codecs... try uninstalling any if u have done manually.

i uninstalled both realtek and via drivers

installed klite codec standard(5.5MB) and now everything's fine!!!

Try a physical re-connect of the audio ports. Are both rear and front panel non-functional..?

^^ tried it

here's what happened

1. 1st try - sound back

2. shut down comp, start after few hours, same problem again

3. removed via hd audio deck driver again, and this time removed k-lite codec pack also

4. did a restart, installed via hd audio deck - working again

I don't know for how long. The problem is recurring and not a self correcting one
