Noise-canceling headphones use a microphone to pick up any outside noises within range of your ears. It then sends an inverse set of sounds picked up by the background noise to cancel it out. Researchers think they can essentially do the same thing with fiber optic cable Internet, which uses light waves to transmit data. However, this requires a lot of power to make the process fast, and this results in lots of “noise” that would otherwise slow down Internet speeds and reliability.

The research team led by Xiang Liu of Bell Laboratories used this technique, called phase conjugation, to send a signal of 400 gigabits :wideyed: per second through 12,800 km of fiber optic cable. For perspective, Google Fiber offers its subscribers 1 gigabit per second.

Damn!! And we still whine about 1-2 Mbps connection's reliability :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I don't think it will be for consumers or retail use. Seems to be more optimised for longer area use like from country to country with less peering in between. Will probably speed up top level servers on internet if everyone jumps to this technology.

And also would imply 'enough' bandwidth for end users as well.

LOL, then he will bring a whitepaper saying we already working on this :P

We all are on the mercy of Manmohanji, Rahulbaba & Soniaji for any development in this country, its only when they think its needed.

When the british left, they transfered their powers to Gandhi Family.
