Noisy neighbours

Thanks for the replies. The guy doesn't live in my society, and his flat is probably more than 30 feet away, so his tv is really loud.
But the advice about canvassing my neighbours, and asking my society for help instead of doing it alone is good, and I'm going to take it.

But I've looked up the nuisance laws in India, and I think the max fine is some 500 odd rupees, so unless that guy's got some sort of civic sense, I don't know how good a police complaint will be.

are other residents of vicinity also annoyed by the sound if so you definitely have a better chance. BTW if damages are once awarded and fresh action is brought for continuance of nuisance court in such cases would award exemplary damages to set an example and to compel the abatement thereof.

Put some high frequency noise pointed to them. In most cases, only youngsters will be affected, and they will feel terrible headache.

if i was that persons neighbour i would bang or break down their door till they stopped watching tv forever and ever :

fighting noise with more noise is insane. more people will get affected and irritated. best way is to form a group of 20-30 people and go shout at them after ringing their bell. tell them that you people have started getting hearing problems and getting headaches daily listening to the din coming from their house. threaten to smash their tv or audio system if they dont keep it on low volume. it should work. try to subdue them as much as possible.

Get a Logitech Z5500 and some death metal music. Play it loud - I mean real LOUD and give them a taste of their own medicine. Rinse, wash, repeat until they realise it.

I had the same problem when i used to live in Pune.This was Long time back.

But i came back with a great idea.

I had some heavy groaning sessions with my love all night.

However it subdued a lot after they complained that they are embarrassed before their children when we went at it nonchalant till dawn.

I think they got the message.Else no amount of request is going to stop them .

update: i lost my cool on Sunday, and shouted across at my neighbour to reduce the volume, but she turned it up instead. I then yelled something like "You're not the only person who lives here!" and closed my windows. Then a few hours later I heard a lot of angry yelling coming from her flat. After that theres been barely any noise from over there. They seem to be keeping their windows shut while watching the telly now.
I think one of the people in their building got fed up with them and gave them a piece of their mind.
I hope this is the end of the matter, but with people like that, it'll probably be only a couple of days before they're back to their old ways.
