Nokia 5230 browsing problem on pc

My 5230 got problems with surfing internet on pc.Details
Connection-Tata docomo gprs
os-windows xp sp2
sw-Nokia pc suite 7
Got gprs (edge) on phone and opera mini,uc browser,GPS all works fine.Got connected with pc with pc suite 7 with usb cable and was able to synchronise phone with pc,can copy messages from phone to pc etc etc.I can see the phone name displayed in pc suite after connected with the cable, added a new connection wizard using the tata docomo default no *99#.The connection is established showing something like 460kpbs.Here comes the problem....even if the connection is established can't browse any web pages at all!!!
The google home page on firefox and opera says can't connect with the server.Tried even setting the firewall off.ok need some serious help here.Thanks in advance.
 
How are you setting up the connection? Pls elaborate. Once I used my airtel GPRS via N79 in PC and it worked fine.

I did not had to do anything. I chose "Connect to Internet" (Last one in top row) in nokia pc suite. Rest was done automatically. Once connection was established I was able to browse net.

In xp sp2 went to control panel>network connection>create a new connection>setup my connection manually>ISP name=xxx>default number *99#>

user name and password set to blank>added this connection as default to desktop.After dialing this number a connection is established but still no browsing is effected.
 
I didn't try that.

It was simple 1 click in Nokia PC suite and rest was done automatically.

* Have your phone connected in pc suite mode (via cable)

* open pc suite and

* click on 'connect to internet'

* fill in details as required

U should be connected

Dear mk76 I did try the above method too that's actually called one touch access that didn't help either.same story,a connection was established but no browsing at all.I have been successfully using airtel gprs for the last three years and there were no problems at all.It was very slower though
 
Have you activated the net on pc plan?

In airtel there are two plans - one is net on phone which allows surfing on phone only. other one is mobile office which allows surfing on pc.

Although i see that you intend to use tata docomo internet, myself uses airtel mobile office and i set up my connection as follows

1. Open Nokia PC suite (while your phone connected in PC suite mode to PC)

2. Click on the top right globe which says connect to internet

3. It will automatically start to autoconnect, when this is happening press the toolkit/settings sign to configure the settings.

4. Select the phone as modem here and press next

5. Select "configure manually"

6. In the access point i mention airtelgprs.com and click on the TICK sign and you are good to go

Now in your case only thing different is the step 6 where the access point name will be different for docomo.

PS: Above is only one time activity and you dont need to repeat everytime you connect thereafter.
 
Well I am alos using Tata Docomo for browsing internet on PC...using TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET APN...however I faced the problem that Tata Docom's dfult DNS is pretty crappy...it's not able to resolve many sites...so I switched to Google DNS...after that everything started working fine...and I have Windows Mobile...so while I connect to internet I don't have to dial via PC...my mobile creates a local area connection of 10MBPS...and my mobile only dials the connection...I'm not sure how to do wit Nokia phones...but try using Google DNS...
 
Thanks all for the responses raksrules and konqueror I figured it out ..the villain was the Access point name aka APN .After recharging for Rs48 for a 2 Gb download for one month the settings they have sent mesettings for docomo wap site ,Dive in.

Dive in default



+CGDCONT=,,"TATA.DOCOMO.DIVE.IN"

I changed it to



+CGDCONT=1,"IP","TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET"

let us hope this will work, will use another phone nokia 6230i as suggested above.

At last it worked changed the APN settings to

+CGDCONT=,,"TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET"

This worked at least with my old 6230i.Hope it will work for 5230 too.
 
Can someone, please explain what to do in a little more detail. I can't understand anything. I have TATA DOCOMO INTERNET for internet and Dive In for wap.
