Nokia 5800 XM Firmware Update 20.0.12

My Red one, which was upgraded FOTA long time back, has version
20.0.012.C01.01

and the date is same
26/01/2009.
I wonder what is the difference.....
 
Updated my 5800 with the latest firmware and there are some noticeable differences. Menus are faster, inbox opens up quickly as does the songs menu & image gallery. Camera is a definite improvement as well. The firmware is huge though around 122MB but worth the wait and size.
 
After updating, does clicking on Google Search on the home search result in a system error? Thats what many had reported when the firmware was released initially a couple of weeks back.

Is it necessary to keep the phone connected via USB throughout the download process? Or can I download the update separately?

are you able to update over NSU? maybe this fixes the phone lock bug.

Yes i can. but did not update it.

will update when the ver 2.1 firmware (currently in Beta) comes out.
BTW guys who have upgraded via NSU recently, is the original content that came with the phone playable after the upgrade?.

This is the only issue i had since upgrading FOTA. all songs are Locked.
Any other issues you guys facing?

the bug is gone... Google Search loads fine now
 
hey guys! congrats! happy to hear its officially available. i will now change back to my product code. hence my warranty will not be affected. anyways, i recommend a *#7370# hard reset after firmware upgrade. that way you will not get the google search error and the dictionary application will be visible as well!

back up the contacts and messages and for GODs sake do not keep your security code on!

If this version is greater than your current software version, update now to get the latest features, applications and improvement
 
yup all songs get locked.. if u want them again plz get them from nokia service centre.. rest after formatting memory card the problems will resolve..

the reason why the "system error" message occurs is bcos the data that gets reloaded after the upgrade bcomes incompatible and causes sys error.

simply format the memory card and u will be done.

P.s. the format memory card is available under applications--filemanager-...
 
Yes. I noticed the phone was pathetically slow after the update. Then realized that those songs showing on the card but not playing could be the reason for the phone getting bogged down. I was right. Isn't the phone blisteringly fast now? I luv it a lot now ;-)
 
Any one else who has upgraded has this preloaded songs locked problem ?. please check and post here.

How does songs loaded on memory card slow down the phone ?:huh:

EDit: unless you are refreshing the music library, but then music library refresh for the first time, with lots of songs, takes a very long time.

best thing to do after upgrade is to do a hardware reset of the phone.(remove the memory card first)

after the upgrade this can be done by holding the Green + Red + camera keys.
 
there is one more bug in the v20 i noticed.. the messages dont show the "read" icon after they have opened.. any1 of u experiencing the same?
 
In firmware 20.0.12: When the message is unread, there is a little star icon on the closed envelope. And when the message is read, that star is gone (though envelope is still seen as closed).

A new bug in the front camera... after clicking a snap from the front cam... the picture is mirrored automatically...

Thats not a bug...it happens in each and every NOKIA phone front camera :hap2:

One BIG difference I noticed was the call face sensors..

They used to work upon upon just dialing the no in the previous firmware...

but in v20 the sensors work only and only if that call is active..

The sensors dont seen to work any more when the call is ringing :@

yes i have this problem. what is the solution?
 
my contacts bar is screwed after updating. it doesn't show any contacts... and when it is enabled to show in the homescreen, the contacts and dialler buttons don't work :S
