I dont really think this will translate to a sub 20K price for India.
25K would be nearer the mark.

The article mentions it's available for about €279
so ... 280.00 EUR = 17,947.54 INR

generally Nokia prices are lower in India than the US or UK

hope the price <20k... can't wait to get this Tube.. THe only drawback I can think of from the spec is the touchscreen . Am wondering how well they'd implement this...

so let the confusion begin, looks neat i so hope its atlesat as fast as the n82 if nothing... price also i hope under 20k and its a huge hit. for sure the e71 will take a huge fall since i hear grey market is already at 16k

30k is stupid since e90 in grey is for 30k and n96 in bill is for 33k so i guess 20k or 25k max

That's complete nonsense. UK usually has the highest prices for electronics.

Nokia E90 costs about 650 Euro (500 Pounds) in UK and that sells for around 33k officially in the Indian market. Indian prices are actually lower than UK prices.

279 Euro for this phone would not translate to more than 17k in India. The price is quite understandable too. This phone is not positioned as a high end PDA phone. Its more of a mid end media phone and the price has been set appropriately.

Clearly people seem to have began judging prices of every touch screen phone on the same standards as Apple. :P

It maybe a proto or pre- mass production model,so it isnt exactly fair to derive conclusions from those. There will be a lot of optimizations coming..

Its a one good package, only wish it have a better cam.

hahaha hate to say that i told u so. i knew it was going to be slow and i bet the full production model will be slow. they might just fix it in 6 months. nokia has never got it right on the first shot. the more u use and the more u know. where are those people who were getting on me. read this in ur face.

Its not a proto or a pre mass production. This video was put up after the launch on the official Nokia Conversations site. They know better than to put up proto model demo's out for the public.
@jesal

We all know that the first firmwares are slower :)
Also, they are using the usual ARM 11 369MHz CPU. For a device with this big screen and a new OS, i would have liked to get something better than the usual.

Yep. It might be slow , but still i mostly would choose this over the iphone for 30k+ (IFF it is below the 20k mark) . Lets wait for the official reviews to start churning up , with more in depth analysis of the speed on empty as well as at full memory.

BTW , that Engadget review was more from a iPhone fanboi rather than from an unbiased user.

What's new is a touch-sensitive button above the screen that drops down the Media Bar for access to music, movies, photos, the browser and sharing. Not life changing, but quite convenient. There's also a new home screen with a "Fav Four" of sorts across the top and little else. Tap that friend, and you can get a quick look at recent calls, messages and even related RSS feeds. Pretty neat if you're a loner, but there's no way to add more than four friends, or view similar info for your regular contacts that don't make the cut.

:P
