i like the iPhone. it's perfect for me actually. its shortcomings don't bother me as i only use a phone for making calls, browsing the internet on the go and taking a few photos here and there. it has the best interface i've ever come across on a phone. using it is a really good experience.
however, i will be picking up a 5800 in all likelihood if it is priced at 18k. i'd never pay more than 20 grand for a phone. i don't think the iPhone is worth 30+k either... no phone is IMO (unless it comes with an 8800GT

now the 5800 may have more features but labeling it or any other phone the iPhone killer is pretty pointless and stupid. Apple will always have people buying their products and tech savvy people on a forum arguing about it won't make the slightest difference. we comprise of a very small minority of the market. Zunes and Zens and what not were toted as iPod killers when they were launched. they didn't hurt iPod sales in the least. these things are still selling like hot cakes.
it's the same story with the iPhone. i like Apple. i've been using their computers for more than 14 years now. however, i don't like their iPhone strategy. they can make their phones however they want... add or remove whatever feature they want. what other companies do will not hurt their sales in a significant way so they can get away with it. sad... but true.
