I've found on some Russian website a tutorial on how to fix Nokia 5800 earpiece problem.

So, I've tried my best (with Google help of course) to translate it and here is what I've managed to do:

1) Take the plectrum (a three-cornered-stylus, which came in the box).

2) Take the device, turn it off and remove the battery.

3) We start to remove the upper panel (see diagram). Getting started is strictly bottom, so as to stay top of the plume and accelerometer sensor lights.

4) Removed the lid. You should get as in the picture.

5) Now we see the speaker. It should be pulled out and turned.

6) There will be two contacts which should be unbent (see figure).

7) Unbend them and then reassemble.

Everyone can now forget about the problem with the speaker.:D

Hope the guide was helpful;)

Problem in Brief
CAUTION : Out of no where today the phone started behaving abnormally.....AND it was frustratin cause the problem was that the sound volume on call would go + / - on basis of how i would hold the phone.....i felt that the freaking proximity sensor is upto something here for sure.... it became way too irritating.........thankfully i have a pal going to UAE day after so im not bothered abt it ,but then out of curiosity I googled about this problem and BANG!......many users facing this same problem!..........i fixed mine for now.....the earpiece on the phone seems to be coming off some contacts / slot or whatever , i was suggested to press the earpiece area gently like fitting a panel and i did that and the problem 'vanished'........just a breif headsup for the p33ps whos phones are coming up.........this problem has been faced by people in finland / russia / dubai and all over where the phones have been pushed so far...........considering the push to India would have been carried out earlier as per the high demands , there might be a FLOOD of this issue.

This issue is only during calls i.e earpiece. Calls via BT headset / Handsfree / Speakerphone are unaffected.
