By this April you mean April-2008

And you definitely didn't like 6233 or N72 or W810i after 365 days.:bleh:

Till April-08 may be N91/95 comes to Rs.15000 half to today's rate or even low.

Still I suggest you don't think from your point of view but think your dads uses as he will be the first user of this phone.:)

dude i mean april 2007, my dad wont use too many features...but i want convince him to get me a cell which i guess he wont...so i take his cell and then he will have to get a new one for himself....cos even i need a cell and i aint gonna settle on nokia 1100 type phones

a final query to all N72 users:

1) Does the phone hang frequently?

2) Does the phone give problems with the phone book?

3) How is the built quality as compared to the 6233?

4) Average battery life that you people get??

5) Has anybody's N72 caught a virus till date?

6) Does the 6233 have no support for 3rd party applications?

7) Final question, is the 6mb internal memory enough for all apps in 6233.

TIA

Answers...

1. No, it doesnt hang frequently, in fact it would only hang if you overload it with applications
2.
3. Built quality compared to 6233 is somewhat better, 6233 has this velvet type thing which is prone to fingerprints
4.
5. No viruses for Series 60 V3 are there as yet
6. 6233 has support for 3rd party java applications
7. the 6mb memory of 6233 is backed up by the mem card, in case the onboard memory is full, the apps get installed to the mem card automatically...

@hotstuff: Shouldn't you also be looking at whether you get a bundled card with the phone or not? Am pretty sure you wont with the 6233.. Not sure about the N72. I guess it doesnt matter if you are the money-no-object type though..

Also I have lost faith in Nokia to make phones that would really last a long time.. Seems to me that most of their recent high end phones (even the low end ones actually) develop some or the other problem in a year's time or so. So I wouldnt plan for so long into the future. Dont get me wrong.. All my phones have been Nokia's and will probaby be in the future too.. But once something goes wrong it is SUCH a pain in the ass to get it repaired. In that respect maybe what Stick said was right.

Yes it is pain to visit Nokia Care Center,

My cousin have 6030 just before completing a year it get some problem, he went to dealer, dealer send him to Nokia Care Center (NCC) (45 minutes by Bus from my city) he keep his shop closed for whole day and went to NCC after 1-2 hrs waiting and inspection of phone, NCC rep. told him to visit Another NCC (2 hrs by Bus and 1 hr by train) again next day he keep his shop closed and went to NCC again after 2-3 hrs waiting Rep. told to visit after 7 days.

Again after 7 days he keep his shop closed and went to NCC got Repaired Phone, from there he call me and said what to check here I said check all where you get problem while operating he did same and found all OK.

In evening while return back he visit me, I asked him to charge phone full and with great shock we found that Phone didn't get charged, he replaced his phone battery with mine and all work OK. His cell battery too work OK in my phone but didn't in his cell. And Mark his battery is Original Nokia Battery.

My phone Nokia N72 initially had some problems like I unknowingly downloaded some third party software from somewhere but it came out to be a Virus. But now I am using it since past 4 months with 1 GB Kingston Memory Card and I am very very satisfied with it. My 1st phone was Samsung and 2nd Nokia, I am satisfied with both of them. Seriously it all depends how you maintain your things. I have always kept it inside a crystal case and today also when I take it out from it, it almost appears as a new Nokia N72.

@Hotstuff : No I am not saying you should go for a Sony ericsson.. Actually i dont have much idea how their phones are.. You could check them out though if you dont have anything against them..

What I am saying though is that dont count on having the same phone for 2 years and make a choice based on that... Choose a phone which will give you most bang for the buck for what you wanna do with it today not 2 years down the line..

To be honest probably all companies are equally good or bad when it comes to servicing.. There is just a shortage of skilled people here to tackle any problem your phone might have and that is all there is to it.. So better not to take such a long view on it..

That's probably also the strongest argument not to go for the iPhone when it finally hits India ;)

Go for those Models which have existence in market from last 10-12 months and have less complaints or cons.:)

See, K750i extesively used by all over world:hap2: , and it didn't have any big issue other than Joystick and that too accures with heavy gamers and to normal users after 10-12 months but as on TE said you can easily get solved it at home or with Service Center.:)

Get SE W810i no problem hear or read on any forum (except low SMS storage capacity) till today, you will get it for Rs.13400/- (+/- 500)

About Z710i read here

as i had said previously, no fancy walkmans for dad...i mean thats something middle aged person wont like to have in a professional organization. Moreover what about the SE Z710, is it good as compared to 6233 and SE K750i in that range.(See it has no joystick, lol).

@stick i Have read that, but does anyone have personal experience with SE Z710i and how is it compared to the remaining phones in this range.
