The Nokia 808 uses a 41 MP sensor, which captures image data from seven adjacent pixels and condenses it into one, resulting in stills at around 5 MP resolution with amazing detail and low noise levels.

The Nokia 808 Pure View has a single-core 1.3 GHz processor and 512 MB RAM and runs on Symbian Belle. The display is a 4-incher of nHD (640 x 360) resolution.

The 808 Pure View will go on sale priced at around €450 pre-tax and subsidies in May.

Wish Nokia give user a choice of OS ....like Symbian or WP pre-order basics.

BTW what will be the price of this monster ? Battery user replacble or not ?

Is it only me or any one notice phone looks ugly....I mean not so good looking like N8....anyhow no-offence to anybody.

Due to the huge sensor the big bump is unavoidable i guess.

Price is ~450 euros which is about ~28k-30k

Hope they make a WP phone with such a camera. (Guess currently the OS doesn't support such a big sensor)

WP still has the phone with maximum MP.. 16, I guess HTC Titan 2

The 41 MP sensor resulting is high resolution 5 MP picture??? What does that mean?

For each pixel they condense 8 pixels into 1 (41MP -> 5MP)

So the quality of the picture is very high since they have a high sample size.

Hope they don't use JPEG, or atleast give an option of saving to TIFF or BMP at the very least.

Nokia sure does has it's big guns blazing at MWC. Now we could know what’s the result of Nokia pouring millions into their R&D.

Very much Impressed with 808 pure view . Kudos to Elop to use every bit of strength and resource of Nokia to be regain its lost grounds in the mobile race.

Down in lane of 2 / 3 month we might see similar copycats from Samsung ,HTC or some Chinese manufacturers.

WTH is Nokia upto ? 41MP sensor in a phone !

Now that's the kind of reaction they want to rev up Symbian's sale.

It's basically the phone's USP, otherwise very few people will buy Symbian devices knowing well of its end being near & declining interest of the devs in that platform.

Getting update to future Nokia Carla and Donna - Check (it's a flagship). I believe Carla and Donna will make it better than ever!

Let me know if anyone needs more info on this. I have access to one here at MWC. First impressions.. just take my money

In layman's terms - because I am confused by all the mumbo jumbo around - is this a software enhanced camera or does the camera really take such high quality pics (without software manipulation), or is it a bit of both?

^Takes high quality images, and downsamples - takes the greater amount of data and creates a photo with such high detail, that you can zoom in with no loss of quality.
