My friend bought a new shiny Nokia C7 recently from letsbuy and one issue cropped up today afternoon. Out of no where all data in the E: Mass memory (8GB one) vanished. Not even default folders were visible :S
All apps that were installed on that stopped working. On opening maps it gave error as "Not enough memory to start the application" :S
The E: was showing the size free proper and data was there but just not visible or corrupted.

Any one has any idea what happened ??
We had to resort to factory reset to make something appear again in E: and that too now only the default folders were visible and all our apps and downloaded maps were gone :(

^^ It is the internal memory(but not main phone memory). But i have a strong feeling that all the phone manufacturers which advertise 8GB/16GB internal memory actually have a Micro SD card fitted (cannot be removed) inside and additionally facilitating adding another MicroSD, but that i just what i feel :\

You sure you didn't accidently format it or remove the phone from the computer while it was still accessing data ? And no... atleast these phones do NOT have a microSD card inside.

but I did read and see a pic of an HTC phone having it..

yes HTC HD7 does have a 16GB microSD under the hood. Since MS had put a limitation that the mass memory in Windows Phone 7 would be internal and no external card slot was allowe, HTC came out with this solution.

Internal memory has failed. It might be a manufacturing defect. Try running disk check. If that does not work, take it to the service centre.

How do i exactly do that disk check thing ?? Can it be directly done on phone or on PC and if PC then using what ??
Also will Nokia service the phone incase of a manufacturing defect, in another country ??
Asking this because my friend is travelling to Australia over the weekend and as a last resort he might have to show it to some place in Australia.

^^ Connect your phone to PC in "Data Storage" or "Mass Storage" mode. The memory will be shown up as removable drive in My Computer. Right click it, select "Properties, go to "Tools" tab & click "Check Now".

No idea about international warranty but I guess there won't be.
