First I'd like to thank a friend of mine Gadadhar Montefusco for introducing me to the word "Overclocking" over a year ago.
Then I'd like thank Girish78 for helping me understand Oc basics 6 months back after which I started doing a lot of reading.
Finally I'd like to give a Grand thanks to Udit for bearing with me on msn for over 5 hours while helping me Overclock my q6600. :)

My setup
abit ip35-e
q6600+ true 120
9800gtx+
cm690- all fans on except for side panel one near graphics card
zalman zmfc-2
corsair 400w psu

It took a long time upping volts and running intelburn trying to figure out what was stable. I would set volts boot and run intelburn while typing away on the iphone. My heart was racing and I felt this rush. We tried again and again and intelburn would fail. then I realised vdroop.
Finally we got it stable at 1.4475 vcore in bios and everest 1.30. Mch 1.33 bios 1.38 everest.
3.4ghz 378x9
vcore 1.30
mch 1.38
ram 5-5-5-15(this part i'm still confused about didnt get the hang of it yet) :S
I ran intelburn x10 maximum stress passed 100% and the cores never went above 65°C always hovered at 62-63°C :hap2:
So all stable at 3.4ghz

We then upped the cpu volts some more and tried 3.6 and the comp shut down as soon as intelburn started. I then checked my power usage on the zalman and it was using around 350v when it shut down. We then realized that my psu was limiting me from doing 3.6ghz :@
Overall I'm happy with the overclocking experience. Its just so wonderful and exhilarating. You don't know what it feels like to overclock until you've done it yourself. :P and I guess after getting a new psu I'll hit 3.6ghz for sure.

Some final notes..
1. Should I try reduce the volts and see if it's still stable?
2. While Intelburn was running motherboard was 40°C and never went up or down. Is this normal? I checked with hwmonitor and everest.
3. Pwm went upto 115°C yesterday and I hear 130°C is danger zone so am I ok?
4. Intelburn does maximum stress on cpu more than any other program out there so is it safe to assume that when I will be rendering in 3d it won't stress the cpu as much?
5. I've seen guys do 3.8ghz with air cooling. Is it safe to hit this mark? Or is Kolkata weather not good for this?

Finally another thanks to Udit. He is my tech support. :hap5:

mch is too high for 378FSB. 1.29~ enough

See PWN temps :S

30mins OCCT will also do, E is not mobo with all solid caps etc, Intelburn is too much for it.

Not commenting on rig temps. :)
If you read it properly, you will realise i expressed concern over the psu primarily and consequently the hardware. :)

ya psu is pushing so thats why only 3.4 I'm not gonna be gaming only rendering a lot. I'm on the edge I'd say. :P

@OP - like sidhu said, dont use IBT, its unnecessary.

It might damage ur PWM and ur cpu would require more vcore to OC over time.

so occt, prime95 for half hour is better?

12hrs needed for work ibt does in 10-20mins

even after 10hrs occt/prime95 my pc has given a hardware fault bsod to me

i ran 10 rounds of ibt back in nov 2008 after reaching 4.05GHz & nothing has been able to crash my pc yet not even 24hrs occt ;)

I do OCCT(mix) 1hr just to be sure, but if ur overclocking in increments then 15-20mins shd be fine untill you decide upon a final clock.

Also try HCI memtest for testing memory.

Its a neat lil application that works within windows, you can also do multiple instances of the same to increase stress.

try MemSet for setting custom ram timings

@Udit - IP35E cant handle prolonged IBT stress, I've seen one of these go bad due to IBT

Thanks for the input guys.
Btw could you answer this question
