Hello Techno peps :)

Am in need of u'r help again...

Previously i had a confusion btw'n XBOX360 & PS3. :S & i finally zeroed in on XBOX 360 since am not interested in PS3 Exclusive titles n PC gaming is my top priority

I already own a PS2 ( modded ) but i don't know where i got that modded,since i didn do it.

Please suggest as which ver of XBOX360 to go for ??? i was thinking of going for the 4gb console which retails for 14k+ . SERIOUSLY GUYS I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING BOUT A CONSOLE . Please shed some light.

My Requirements : Console with 2 wireless controllers ! , With HDMI port , Media Remote controller , the latest dashboard or wat ever it is . Am planning on modding it , i hail from Bangalore...& i don't know where to get my Console modded .

How much would it cost to mod it ? Am kinda Aware of the MOD outcomes ( like u'll get banned from Live & sort of ) if i've missed out something PLEASE help me out .

Thanks. :ohyeah:

If you're looking primarily at modding the console, then the PS3 would, without a shadow of a doubt, be the easiest. If you buy a PS3 right now, you are most likely to get it with 3.55 firmware. You can install custom firmware on it and play back ups and launch homebrew stuff. The good part is that you can do it on your own and no need to send it off to anybody to get it modded.

But if you're leaning towards the X360, I would advice getting an Arcade X360 as opposed to the 360S 4GB version. For one, the 4GB space is very meager, if you plan to install games on the HDD and the next only HDD upgrade is a 250GB HDD, which would cost you a bomb. Next, if you get the X360S, the modded firmware is only available for the ones which have Lite-On 9504 drives in them. So without opening a console, there is no way to find out which drive model you have. Whereas, all Arcade 360's can be modded right now. On an average, a professional modder charges anywhere between Rs.2,500/- to Rs.3,000/- for modding a latest Lite-On drive, with/without retaining the console's warranty sticker. I'm not from Banglore, so I have no clue who does it out there. As for your requirements, let's check what we can work out:

A console with 2 controllers - Won't happen. All consoles, by default, provide only one controller. Additional one needs to be purchased separately.

HDMI port - All X360 Aracdes (including the 360S) and the PS3 sport an HDMI port

Media Remote Controller - It's not a bundled accessory and would need to be purchased separately for both consoles

Latest dashboard - I'm not sure what version of dashboard the newer 360's come with, but you can always update them by connecting to XBL or downloading it off MS's website and loading it off on a Thumb drive. PS3's latest firmware is 3.60, which can't be hacked. So if it ships with 3.55 or lower and you update it, then bye bye modding.

So give a deep thought on which console you want to buy, weigh it's pros and cons and then go for one. Good luck! :)

+1 for the above...get an Arcade..i myself got an Elite 120GB modded...runs the latest Dashboard...i have Lite-on with LT+1.1..and there's no danger of getting banned as long as u make sure that the game backups are ok via abgx...

An Arcade 360 was a replacement for the Core model. It has a Wireless controller free, an HDMI port, Jasper/Falcon chipset & a 256/512MB in-built memory unit. None of these were available in the Core models. The 4GB and 250GB are the most recent versions of the 360, dubbed as 360S. Run a Google search to know more about them.

Okay guys :) Thanks all for your inputs. I went through the "A newbies Guide to which console to get!" i didn get what he meant by X360's hidden charges :(

and the reason i don't need a PS3 is i game most of the time in my PC Shooters mostly :D so that is why i zeroed in on 360 :D...

So how much will the Arcade version cost the one with the 120GB HDD ?

& is it possible to download a game ( ISO ) & just play it without burning it to a DVD ? like play it from the HDD ?

AND GUYS WHATS WITH THE REGION CODES ? THE NTSC -J , PAL ? ?? Wat are these ?

Region Free means the games are locked to run on only on region bought console so NTSC-J games would run only on NTSC-J console.

However Region free games would run on all console irrespective of region of console.

Arcade would cost around 12k + 1.5k for 20GB HDD which is more than enough for console unless you want to keep lots of games installed.

You can't play games without DVD unless you have JTAG console (Google for it what it means)

Contact Prashant personally and ask him if he has any older Aracade models in stock or not. Else check for a deal on Flipkart (seems to be growing popular these days).

hidden charges means, no free multiplayer right guys?

i mean you need MS silver or gold stupid membershiT or something, like 59.99$ a year

By hidden charges, I'm assuming, they meant the charges which user would need to need to bear, for purchasing additional accessories. If you're getting the Arcade console, then you'll need to invest in an HDD, A Wi-Fi adapter (if you need to use Wi-Fi facility), XBL membership etc. which are available by default on the PS3. These can't really be called "hidden charges" as the pricing of the console is done by sacrificing these factors. :P

BTW Arcade console have virtually disappeared from market try your luck at Game Gears at IVG forums there are several vendors who can get the arcade there

Guys if this is the X360 ver u'r are referring to ( http://images.gizmag.com/hero/8232_24100745450.jpg ) then there are still 10 -15 pieces left in Reliance Digital Bangalore Outlet :D
& also bout the Wireless controller, does the Arcade Bundle have the chargers for em' ??? or do i have to buy em ?
Yes. That's the Arcade we are talking about. The controller uses standard AA batteries. They are non-rechargeable. If you want, you can either buy a MS Play n' Charge kit and get a set of rechargeable batteries. Else get a pair of Sanyo Eneloop re-chargeable batteries with a charger. You'll get the deals on Ebay. I currently use it for my Wireless controller and they are awesome. :)

Yes thats the one although you would find a different packaging of them in terms of color as the one which i got was in complete white box.

Awaiting you to join the 360 club

It is done :D Will get it ASAP :) Waiting for my Practicals to Finish :D

One last question : Guys wat all does the Arcade include in it ? wats the HDD Capacity in it ?

The Arcade includes:
1 Console
1 Wireless Controller
1 Composite Cable
Built-in 512MB memory unit
Ethernet Cable (may or may not be included in some bundles)

My advice, get a Live starter pack once you get the console. It will have a 60GB HDD, 3 months Gold Subscription and a Headset.
