aaaaah, 8600gts, goddamned 2k above my budget, how long before you think price will drop by 2k? :/

Or I have to settle for 8600gt :(

once this info came out I decided to go for a pair of 8800GTSs instead of the 8600 series. 96 stream proccys and 384 bit ram definitely beats out the amazing clock speeds of the 8600gts

my 7900 has a fill rate of 45gb/s~ and is a 256bit mem interface..
still is better than 8300 8500 or a 8600..

^^ Dont look at pure memory bandwith, 7900 is simply outclassed by 8600 GTS, btw why would anyone pay 50 bucks more vis X1950 pro which is slightly faster.

thats still lower than my 7900gs??

so where do they stand up to my 7900??

Only highly oc'ed one's can get better than the 7900GS ... but mind u .. only in benchmarks ... the 7900GS still leads in actual ingame performance ...

The 8600GTS seems to show better performance in 3Dmark benchmarks because 3Dmarks lays stress on shaders and since the 8XXX series have unified shaders they can make perform much better at those shader tests thus yielding a better score..

In game performance(real world tests) is a totally different area and certain games where resolution is increased, the 8600GTS loses out due to lack of bandwidth..
