Graphic Cards NVIDIA Kepler(GK1XX) Discussion Thread

The OpenCL benches are all screwed up bigtime - its even slower than the 580. Wonder why!

I was planning to get one on launch but looks like there's something weird going on with the double precision performance in the gk104.

all benchmarks on TWIMTBP titles.

Also, if indeed nVidia has pulled this off, well, I would be saying

"nVIdia just did an AMD"

(Looking at AMD's strategy and how they have been beating nVIdia the last few years)

wherever you see GTX680 win, please check GTX580's performance v/s HD7970 at the same. That's the real improvement we are looking for and at.

Well, as long as nVidia is successful in bringing the price down of the Tahitis, I think they have succeeded, the rumored pricing of $499 for the GTX680 is extremely lucrative. As a consumer, I am happy to let em slug it out, as long as I get the best bang for my buck.

The OpenCL benchies are seriously weird... need to wait and see if this is just a driver issue or issue with NV's OpenCL libraries for GK104. Overall though, I think GTX680 is turning out to be pretty good, specially at the $499 price (albeit rumored). Now let's see how GT/X660 fares against 7800s of ATi.

One thing is sure, regardless which card you go for, both are offering compelling performance in games, it's hard to pick up one clear-cut winner between either 680 or 7970. It's the other features and the price that is going to be a deciding factor for buyers. I'm going to wait and watch and wait till both camps tune up their drivers and how both cards fare in OpenCL/GPGPU operations as well as general applications/2D performance.

^i agree with yogi. i think the opencl perf is down as nvidia had to compromise on something to get such brilliant performance/power ratio, and lets not forget that its based on the GK104, and not the GK100 as originally planned..imagine the power of that card

Wow those are some good numbers on the tweaktown post, very impressive but someone who wants the high end stuff should prolly wait for it, I think thats gonna be beastly.

Lol it thrashes 7970 in dirt3 supposedly a ATI title

Apparently Toms posted the story "Accidentally" before the originally planned date and then removed is after "Realizing" the mistake... but as they say, once it's on internet, it's not yours alone.

Its out tomorrow !!! Cant wait this was supposedly their 660-670 card but its good enough to beat AMD's top dog and that too with lesser power consumption good going from nVidia.

Great card by nVidia, I'm impressed. But look at the power consumption chart at Tweaktown's review.

It consumes 60W more than HD7970. That leaves me thinking.

It would take AMD to release a HD7970 overclocked @ 1200MHz (see MSI Lightning's scores) to match the card in probably performance and power consumption too.

So its a 500$ card that performs better than ATi's 550$ card. Bring it on!

A massive price correction is likely for the 7970/7950

Seriously nvidia has pulled it out this time

Yes, thats the key, nvidia has done a AMD here, I am so tempted to move to the green team, gotta resist temptation and wait for the dust to settle!
