Obituary: Gene Hackman, Oscar-winning star of 'Superman' and 'Unforgiven,' dies at 95

RIP Gene Hackman.

He is one of my favourites because of French Connection movie in 1971.

Gene Hackman, the prolific and versatile two-time Oscar-winning actor whose career spanned five decades, has died at 95, his family said.

The actor and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, 65, along with one of their dogs, were found dead in their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Wednesday, the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office said.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy," a statement from Hackman's daughters and a granddaughter said. "He was loved and admired by millions around the world for his brilliant acting career, but to us he was always just Dad and Grandpa. We will miss him sorely and are devastated by the loss."

The manner and cause of death for Hackman and his wife have not been determined, but a search warrant affidavit obtained by ABC News said the deaths were "suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation."
