Hi Guys

i have finally decided to oc my setup for GTA 4

This is my system details below

DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, 2400 MHz (9 x 267)
Asus P5K Deluxe (3 PCI, 2 PCI-E x1, 2 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Dual Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)
System Memory 4096 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)
DIMM2: Patriot Memory PDC24G6400ELK 2 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-12 @ 400 MHz) (4-4-4-8 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-6 @ 200 MHz)
DIMM4: Patriot Memory PDC24G6400ELK 2 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM (5-5-5-12 @ 400 MHz) (4-4-4-8 @ 266 MHz) (3-3-3-6 @ 200 MHz)
Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT (512 MB)

How do i go about this ? im an absolute n00b when it comes to this so ill need some help on doing so if you guys could guide me , im looking to get to 3ghz stable 24/7

also i have AI booster which i could use to oc on load only , is that suggested ? coz i want it to OC only while gaming and not otherwise , hope we have some good suggestions pouring in:hap2:

Releax your timings to 5-5-5-12. Set FSB to 1:1 and then start OC'ing by increasing mhz by 10 -20. I guess an E6600 should do 333x9 easily

Mem Ratio - 1:1
VDIMM - 2.0V
Mem Timings - 5-5-5-15
Vcore - 1.4V
Vmch - 1.3V

try bumping the FSB slowly.as mentioned above.3.0-3.2 should be easily achievable.

Also try with 1.9V Vdimm works. This will depend on the chips.

shud i oc from the bios of the AI utility that comes along ?

also how do i oc , changing the multiplier or the fsb ?

The multiplier will be locked. You can only change the FSB.

The AI utility is ok for non-serious overclocking/experimenting; however for fine-tuning/access to a wider range of settings and permanently locking in your settings, its recommended to use the BIOS.

from the bios, navigate to jumper free configuration. then set to manual configuration....and there u see everything.

..i hav E6600 (stepping 6 revision B2) on a P5B deluxe wifi... doing 3.2 @ completely stable on all tests... everthing else same apart frome the manufacturer diff for ram (corsair xms2)
mem ratio : 1:1
vcore : 1.264 V
bus : 355
ram doing 4-4-4-12 @ 1.85V
CPU idle 23 C , load @ 37-40 C

havnt changed much else...

the games run fine... passes all stress tests .. increasing vcore solved it not passing orthos also... but now temps are higher...
