OC with ASUS P5N-E SLI and E4300 on super noob level

well guys i will be getting this config for my bro tomorrow and will be wanting to OC it. have 0 % idea on how to do it.

E 4300 8.3k

Mobo - P5N-E SLI 7.2k

Hdd - 250 gb Seagate SATA - 3.5k

Ram - 2 gb Transcend 533MHZ - 6.3 k just saw MAHAVIR ELECTRONICS

Cabinet + Psu - Zebronics for 1 k + powe safe 500w

Graphics card - 7300 Gs Nvidia 3.5 k

now i read some articles but am still unclear how do i overclock this config. if some one could give me some detail settings what multiplier etc etc should i put it on AUTO overclocking etc . i would want to take it to 2.5 - 2.7 ghz or what ever safe limits without having much trouble i can reach with the above config. waiting for some replies.
 
oh, i will check it out here in delhi some forum member gave me the prices for this , then should i go for the MSI 965 NEO ? can i OC with it, anything above this falls out of the budget .
 
Yeah you can get decent OC results on the MSI P965Neo
With E6300 you can probably get around 2.6ghz
 
how about with the E 4300 ? , the ASUS is not there at NP just checked with SMC so will be going with the MSI board only , now some one who could tell me how do i GO about Overclocking in DETAIL the RIG to 2.5 2.6 ghz on STOCK COOLING
 
thanks AMBAR , can you throw some light how do i go till 3 GHZ :-) , what software , change in BIOS setting etc, what will i need to do. that voltage etc. coz i got NO IDEA how do i over clock :-)
 
ROFL dont ask me how to OC unless you want your E4300 as a breakfast hot sizzlinng meal :rofl:

haha k AMBAR , even ppl studying LAW dont know how to overclock, now were are the EXPERTS ??? MSI 965 NEO + E4300 OVERCLOCK ???? in detail pls
 
I think with the E4300 , u'll need atleast ddr2-800 ram to reach the 3.0 GHz mark , coz at default , the divider will not be running at 1:1 (200:266 = 4:3) ...

Guys any one please tell me how do i go about overclocking this config with the E4300 or the E6300 ..................

Hmmm .. the lowest he can force the mem. on that board is ddr2-533 ... and the stock FSB with the E4300 should be 200 ... don't think 1:1 would be possible
 
Keep the voltage low to start with, as you can fry the cpu and if the voltage is too high it raises the temps.
If you can unlink the the memory and cpu speeds, I found this to be better. Thsi way you can increase the speeds of the cpu, while not overdoing the RAM.
I'm pretty sure the multiplier is locked, so don't put this above 9.

If you are using stock cooler, I would not suggest starting off at higher speeds than 2.4 mhz and try not to go above 2.9 V.
Then slowly start increasing cpu speed, and if the system/OS starts getting unstable or won't boot, then increase voltage very very slowly, try and see if you can level out at around 3v and this will keep your temps down. After increasing the voltage, try slowly slowly increasing speed again when it become unstable... back down again until it is stable.
A lot of people have been able to get around 2.8 - 3 ghz, if you are using stock cooler I wouldn't take it beyond that.
Mine is very stable at 2.96 ghz and I am quite happy with that, my voltage is at 3v... but be aware I also have a Zalman 9500 cooler.
I am getting around 36c on idle and about 46-50 on high load.
A lot of people may tell you that the processor can handle higher temps, but it will likely burn out sooner if you run at higher temps, and could still run a little buggy.
