I’ve been invited by Asus India for the official launch of Asus NX90 Desktop replacement "notebook". The following quote is the press release from Asus:

Mumbai, August 17, 2010: Asus, one of the world’s top 3 consumer notebook vendor is proud to introduce the Asus NX90- a notebook that marks the perfect blend of style with pioneering technology. The NX90 is the epitome in the world of design and innovation by Asus with an ever-growing portfolio of notebooks, netbooks, motherboards, mobile phones, gfx cards optical drives, desktop PCs, servers, wireless solutions and networking devices. The new 18.4†Asus NX90 sports the craftsmanship par-excellence of renowned designer David Lewis and is a result of collaboration of Asus Golden Ear team with the hallmark technology developer bang & olufsen ICEPower. Little wonder then that the NX90 is a pleasure to the senses as well as the mind of a quality seeker.

Specs are as follows:

CPU/Chipset: Intel 17-720QM/Intel mobile H55M

OS: Windows 7 premium edition

Memory: 8GB DDR3 1066MHZ

Display: 18.4 inch IPS (as said by Alex Huang, country head of Asus India) panel

VGA: Nvidia GT 335M with 1GB GDDR3

Storage: 1TB (500x 2) 7200RPM

Optical drive: Blu ray 4x combo

Webcam: 2.0 mega-pixel

Dimensions/weight: 525mm x 280mm x 43.8mm/ 4.4KG

Warranty & pricing: 1 year global warranty/ Rs. 1,31,999/-

The body is a polished aluminum and it is a fingerprint magnet. During the question and answer session it has been revealed that newer models within the NX series will be released, especially a SSD version. Pricing isn’t attractive, but it shows that Asus is gearing up to release new models.

Alex Huang did say that more laptops, netbooks and desktop replacement units will be introduce in India. After the successful launch of Asus EEZE PC netbooks, they are looking forward to dominate the laptop/netbook market India. Whether or not they succeed is something we will have to wait and watch as the sands of time moves on.

Credits to Esther Chung and Asus India for sending the invitation (and for the box of chocolate and a cake).

Agree, that it looks ugly! Also if one can live with 17" screen than cheaper i7 setup is G73

Stupid reasoning for not invite me tho :P

Everything's good, but GPU. Why can't they add more powerful GPU with screen size of 18 inches.

Yes, design is crappy.
