But I am just saying you should really pursuade those NGOs as they really have a LOT of sources and means to get these tasks done. I remember an NGO from mumbai helped a kid and raised plenty of amount for his treatment in just about a week. I am really not understanding what you mean by nothing concrete has come up .. aren't they taking the case seriously? Or not giving the case the attention and swiftness it deserves?

Also did you try posting an ad in papers, etc?

i know buddy that if we get one big ngo involved in this kind of matter,almost the whole financial problem they can look after...but all we can do is try and pursue them to the best we can...rest upto them
yea speaking with newspapers also regarding the add thing too

i am that 1 guy mentioned on the opening post, my name is karthik AKA sc0rpi0guy both on GI and TE.

killzone123 has been helping me a lot since i told him about this and has been asking for help to all the people on my behalf. Thanks to him.

this is what has happened so far....

The Doctor had asked my mother to take 6 Chemo Therapy injections and the cost of each injection was 8K. Mom was staying in Chennai along with my brother and he was taking her for the chemo therapy treatment. After the 3rd chemo

therapy injection on May 2nd, immediately the next day she developed respiratory problem and could not breathe. Mom was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was undergoing the chemo therapy in a very critical condition. Her pulse had gone down to 35 in place of 70-80. They somehow managed to bring the pulse back to normal. The Doctor said that if we had delayed bringing her to the Hospital by 10 minutes she would not have survived.We shifted her to Chennai Meenakshi Hospital where proper treatment for the respiratory can be given and she was admitted there for abt 3 days in the ICU after which she got discharged. The doctor there told that due to her inhaling some acid in the Lungs which was released due to the chemo therapy this complication had occurred and suggested that the Chemop Drug to be changed. so i decided to bring her to Bangalore with me so that my wife will always be there to take care of her.

We were referred to M S Ramaiah Hospital in Bangalore by that Doctor who was treating my mom in Chennai. Long Story short.

Now 3 injections are remaining and each has been split into 3 injections to reduce the side effects and complication(Each Dose 60MG) which comes to 9 Chemo Therapy injections and each injection has to been given each week for 9 weeks. The cost of 1 chemo therapy session now is 10K including the Bed charges and blood Test which has to be done before every chemo therapy session. so far i managed to arrange money for 2 injections by pledging some Gold jewels of mine and am unable to arrange money(70K) for rest of the Treatment and after this my Mom has to undergo Radiation and which will cost 46K. Totally 1,14,600 is required.

I have all the records for the previous treatment taken in Chennai and the Present treatment that's continuing in Bangalore.

Moms chemo Was Due on 16th June,2009 as i was not able to arrange the money i could not get her treated. I approached Kidwai Cancer Hospital, (even though its 40 KMS away from my house) there they said that we dont provide the treatment for free and you cant change hospital to hospital whenever you guys feel like and turned us down. So we dropped hope of going to Kidwai Cancer Hospital.

Then i approached CPAA(Cancer Patients Aid Association, Mumbai) VIA Email and here's the reply that i received from the Head Of the Dept: Shubha Maudgal.:

Unfortunately we are unable to provide financial help to out station patients. I would advise you to place appeals in local newspapers and to contact large corporates who have funds for such charitable work. We have raised funds for Mumbai patients in this way.

I even called the CPAA,Mumbai just today afternoon and spoke to PATIENT CARE DEPARTMENT, Ms. Vinaya Chacko ,Tel: +91 22 2492 1856 / 2492 4000. She mentioned that the Bangalore office
(BANGALORE746, 8th Cross, 10th Main,
Indiranagar 2nd Stage, Bangalore - 560 008.
MRS. KALPANA KAR (Director) ) has been closed for the past 4 years and they had plans to reopen it but they haven't done it yet. So its still closed.


Break up cost of the Whole Treatment

Total cost of Chemo therapy Rs.9800x7 = Rs.68,600 Rs.9800 covers...

1.bed charges,
2.Blood test charges(which is done before every chemo therapy session to check the blood count is normal)
&
3. chemo therapy injection (combination of drugs) major ones are: a)Docetax 60MG & 2.Aprecap(strip of 3 capsules)

Radiation Therapy to be given for 5 weeks: total cost Rs.46000

1st week Rs.15000 has to be paid and for the next 4 consecutive weeks Rs.8000/- has to be paid for each week.

Total Cost of the whole treatment: Rs.1,14,600/-

Update (08/07/09): Doctor has suggested to take Chemo Therapy after the 5 weeks Radiation therapy is completed so that the cancer cells don't spread. Yesterday they took CT Scan to plan the radiation treatment. The Treatment will continue from Monday to Friday for the next 5 weeks. First installment of Rs.15000/- has to be paid as i have mentioned in the above Chemo Therapy Breakup
 
@ScorpioGuy ,In which hospital is ur Mom getting the treatment done.Its it Ramaiah i can speak to a couple of docs there and raise fund for the treatment,I have a couple of my friends working there.I will run thru my contacts and will post back here.Give me a day's time.

I tried to help someone once, but almost all thought it is a scam and no one even tried to verify the matter.

thanks a lot for coming forward and trying to help someone...i have always believed that what matters most is that atleast we try our best ...
i would really request you guys if you know any ngo ,doctors etc who can help him in anyway that would be very very helpful...
and yea if anyone wishes to donate any amount...big ,little etc can shoot me a pm...i will surely respond back...and if quite a few guys are ready then you can start a donation thing for him here too..upto you guys...because even small amounts from many people can add up to become a big one...so whtever people feel comfortable with,they can come forward...

Hi Karthik i was lil busy today couldn't call my friends sorry mate.Will do it tomo .Btb i came to know that if u can speak with the GSM service peeps for that SMS thing they will do it and u can pool in lot of cash.

I meant to say walk into Airtel/Vodafone/idea offices tell them that u need help in raisin fund.They will start circulating SMSes all over Bangalore,each time the SMS is forwarded they give u 1Paise for the fund.This is true,I know 1Paisa is less but imagine the number of people who are gonna forward it.
