Antec is supposed to be one of the decent PSU's around, i'm surprised to hear it can't deal with a APC-backUPS ...and the cheaper models (mine's a mercury) has absolutely no probs with it at all.Saiyan said:^^ no re, Back ups have problem with Antec Neo HE. Me, x86 and even chaos had the problem when he used backups, but he changed to Smart ups. It has problem with few other smps as well iirc.
PSUs in general dont care about sine wave delivery, very forgiving. What about the cheaper indian UPS's, they sure as hell don't deliver a sine wave :hap5:
The point i'm being trying to make, (which seems to be lost) is that you dont want to go in for the lower duration units, think about how long it takes to burn a dvd, if the current goes when that happens and the UPS cant provide enough, you just lost the DVD. Double or triple the time it takes and you will be fine.
Also think about deep discharges, the APC battery can handle 120 of those and then you have to replace the battery, get a shorter duration UPS and your battery is dead in a yr or little more. Deep discharge is when you wear the battery out completely, better to avoid, if you want the battery to live longer.
Short duration 5-15mins ups are fine in countries where the power goes off for a few minutes, that too rarely. Maybe they are also fine in Mumbai, if you live anywhere else they are a waste. I used to get half hr cuts at random and i was fine with teh RS-1000, its those random cuts that were the most annoying, i did not want to stop what i was doing, so the 1hr or so i get was ample enough to ride through them. If there is a scheduled cut, then i can plan around it and shut down within 5 minutes.
