All the Online Shop's I've looked at in India are just seem to small retail outlets with some form of online presence - MD Computers, Primeabgb, Vedant, SMC ... etc Nobody like Newegg(USA), Ebuyer(UK). I've only ever ordered from Primeabgb and they are good - helpful as well.

Anyway I want to purchase a newly released MB by MSI - B850M Mortar. Only few outlets have it in stock currently so I called SMC Saturday morning was put in a que and eventually got automated message someone will call me back, but no one has. MD computers a lady answered their main number, but she wasn't able give me any technical info and said nobody was there to talk with directly and that I should just email my queries.

So I have many other bits to order so am a bit wary of ordering form these types of outlets cause aftersales will be atrocious. I'm not in any rush so do you think it would I should just wait till Amazon or Primeabgb start stocking it?

Small? Have you ever v isited Prime and Vedant. Its not a typical small local shop like other gully shops.
What matters is their competitive pricing and stock availability in their warehouses.

Calling them wont be entertained every time. I know someone in prime who is tech savvy a bit so if I have to dial there I directly ask the lady receptionist to transfer the call to that guy.

B850? Curious as to what are you up to. A premium B6xx series is sufficient for almost everyone around.

Unless its a DOA you wont be getting ass from these shops, you have to visit the brand service centers.

And here lies the problem - no customer focus seem like box shifters to me.

it's just the dogs b0llock's. Has 2 x Gen 5 PCI-e, (I'll put two 2TB Gen 5 Toshiba M.2's, which uses 7nm Phison E31 which is the company's second generation PCI-Express 5.0 controller and has latest Toshiba 3D TLC), runs cool and fast! Can also put an additional Pcie-4 ssd at the back. 2 fast USB-C connectors at the back and SPDIF audio out. Also has Broadcomm Wifi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, guy testing on Youtube gets breakneck speeds both on Wifi and Ethernet. Futureproofed wont need to worry upgrading for years to come.

we don't quite have an 'Indian Newegg' yet. Most seem to be brick-and-mortar stores with an online presence. Primeabgb gets a lot of love for their service, which probably makes up for the smaller scale. Hopefully, we'll see some larger, dedicated e-commerce players emerge in the tech space soon!

Yes, I hope so too it's much needed and the market is certainly big enough for a large outfit to succeed.

Amazon have high volume buying power and their margins are very high, Now they dont even accept returns, they want the end user to deal directly with service centres. A big player with high liquidity but who also provide good after sales support would definitely do well.

If i have someone living in US and i import a gpu, i can send it back for warranty right? If that person is permanently living there. Then warranty wont be a problem right?

Ya thats correct but you'll have to pay import duty if you have it couriered, better to get them to bring it with them on flight. I brought lots of stuff from the UK on flights, just have to remove all the packaging and pack it in such a way that it cant be easily noticed .

Also Trump has changed de-minimis exemption recently so you may be liable for duty if retuning it back for warranty claim.

An Indian version of Microcenter / Newegg would be so good to have here. Especially when it comes to warranty claims, things become tedious. Especially for companies which service the warranty through thirdparties - so guess majority of the companies. The thirdparties which I had dealt with in the past always would be extremely crowded always / slow and felt like PSU banks with token system etc. Don't know if there has been any improvement in these things lately.

A big mart like PC retail shop might (and preferably should) atleast streamline the RMA process, along with benefits it can provide like decent stocks, variety of items, pricing etc.

Even if the person takes it back with himself?
Not sure how strict they are in US, probably be OK. Western customs are more in the lookout for drugs and stuff. UK customs always suspect people of smuggling in cigarettes from India.

Electronic items they aren't too bothered about.

Openly speaking no big brands have that much keen interest in India. Just that there was demand during their high times they came, entered in a partnership with rashi, kaizen, acro etc, they gained and they ignored.
Its in the hands of these Indian partners on customer service and introducing latest tech etc.
And these indi sc know how jugadu are indian consumers in hiding their faults and passing on the blame to the brands.
Only if there was a direct interaction with the brand, things could have been better.

So! If i have a person staying in US and who also visits india once or twice a year, getting a gpu from US shouldn’t be a problem for me. This is what I summarise.

Depends which airport you clear customs, here in Goa they dont bother, I've brought back Hifi stuff worth in Lakhs by packing it a large plastic containers. Large City Airports may be different, others can chime in and advise.

Make sure they dont bring it in it's original sealed box. If they able to test it whilst in US even better. On a graphics card like a RTX 5090 for example you could make a really huge saving.
