I ordered an SSD thinking it was a pricing error on Flipkart (Crucial 512gb SSD for 2200rs, RetailNet)
well, I got scammed, it's good that I had good score with Flipkart, they actually refunded my money but boy, I ain't buying anything from that website with a no returns policy.

Currently, it is around 3K on both Amazon and Flipkart, but when I log in to FP, it is showing 2674 as a special prize. Now that seems better than the regular price, but your experience is making me have second thoughts. The seller is some MPDSLERetail, with a rating of 4.6.

Btw, why have SSD prices shot up by more than a 1000 over the past few months?

Which model is this? I got Crucial P3 Plus 500 GB for 2850 during the sale. Now it's 3649. The SSD was genuine, recent import, correct model and capacity. It was OBD, so I checked before collecting.

This has been known since middle of last year, ssd manufacturers suffered major losses during last price slump so started cutting the production.

What is OBD?
Open Box Delivery, never order pc components from flipkart without it showing on the product order page. It means delivery person has to open the box & take the pics of the product & upload it from his phone flipkart app & you need to give him an otp after which only the delivery will be considered as "successful". If during product box opening you see damage/wrong/fake product then don't give the otp.

Crucial BX500 500 GB Sata SSD
This used to be available for 2300-2400 last year & for 3.2k one could get same capacity crucial MX500 ssd which is a dram ssd & much better than dramless BX500 series.

Thanks @guest_999 for the info, and @calvin1719 for the links. I bought the BX500 500GB for 2100 last year, to replace the HDD of an old laptop, and performance is great compared to the HDD. Looks like the prices are not going to go down this year, instead may even go higher.

@PoBoy My old laptop doesn't have the slot for the P3 Plus you linked, only Sata ones.

Yes even dram less is much faster than any hdd for typical OS loading & tasks. Prefer dram ssd if price difference isn't much but for typical os loading & tasks even dramless ssd will do just fine. In fact there are dramless NVMe ssd like WD SN580 & SN770 which are even better than many dram ssd for majority of typical user tasks.
