OOo Base was a nice introduction to the package. But it isn't perfect yet. On once occassion, it didn't import my Access db properly. On another occassion, the OOo db developed problems and my data got screwed up. :(

There's an upcoming 2.0.3 premium also coming up. The main changes are going to be lot whole lot of clipart, Templates & so on & so forth. Templates this time around are going to be categorised much better & see a much more professional approach. The only issue I see is that the developers need to develop an equally well-laid out English site for error reporting, feature requests etc.

I tried Open office sometime ago and the major problem I had was with its Spreadsheet, alternative for MS Excel. It seemed like it had long way to go to be a better alternative to Excel.

Creating links between pages, creating charts/graphs was a hell in spreadsheet, when it seems like a rookie's job in Excel. Now, don't even talk about Macros and maintaining a database in Spreadsheet.

I have tried that as part of my erstwhile biz where we tried Spreadsheet for maintaining our database. It screwed my patience and happiness. If not for that I would have still been using Open Office, their version of word is pretty good and it had its share of good features. But, don't ask anything about Grammar or Spell Checks over there.
