PC Peripherals Optical Drive Dilemma

Bonjour guys!

Well i'm planning to go for a new DVD writer. Am confused btn Sony DRU 820 A and Benq 1650 ( is 1655 availale in India?)

I read reviews at CDfreaks and Cdrlabs. being layman couldn't make head nor tail :huh: Well not as much as the smiley portrays anyway.

Acc to them Sony is fast but CD writing quality at max speed is questionable. DVD writing quality is iffy.
Benq is excellent( that's what i made out) But few of my friends ( they dont have the drive .. i beleive they have never come across it) don't think it would be as reliable as Sony. Thus shaking my confidence. (Restore it GUYS!!!)

\How about if I tell you that the Sony DRU820 is nothing but a rebadged Benq 1670?

And yeah.. get the 1650!

If you want to get a Sony then get 810 DRU, not the 820.

If your looking for a non-lightscribe writer : BenQ 1650

Renesas chipset = BLOODY FAST! P-CAV, full DVD in about 5m30s.

If your looking for a non-lightscribe writer : BenQ 1650

Correction - stick to the 1655.. 820 isn't that good, Besides, the 820 doesn't do LS

Decent drive, probably 90-95% as good as the 4163/4167, which are both excellent.

Yes .. I AM looking for lightscribe and will surely go for Benq 1655. I visited benq.co.in and in the list of optical drives , 1655 wasn't listed. So R u guys sure that it is available in india?
