Options for TV Viewing

Ok , All these years reading up stuff and i still have Zero knowledge of the Media Players available .

Hence I raise you this basic question, please break it down to me in simple terms :)

So, I have so many of these .mkv , .avi, Xvids n all. What are the ways through which you can view these on a TV. I am talking about a CRT rite now. Although mite go for a HD LCD in near future.

I dont have a problem in copying it to a pen drive/Portable Hdd and viewing it, or prolly connect it over wifi/lan [maybe that is an HTPC] .

Dont want to burn DVDs n view it. So what are my cheapest options :D
 
a simple dual core computer( athlon II x2) and with 1 gb of ram and some easy on pocket graphic card(9400gt, 3650, or even 8400gt) which has tv out or s-video out port, can be connected with tv. And for hd lcd tv there is vga but hdmi is recomended.

and there is wd tv hd media player, cheaper than htpc setup.
 
Go for a WD TV or an Xtreamer

Your pick. Compare, read reviews, educate yourself and make a decision. There are dealers supplying both here on TE.
