Orkut harassment..

There's one chap on orkut who's continously pestering a friend'd friend (female). the thing is he found out her cell no. and stuff from her office database somehow (he was an ex-employee there)...
now he's bothering her by calling on her cell and sending scraps like 'hope to meet u soon' etc etc.

my point is how to deal with such people ?? dont wanna complaint to police n stuff... obviously the girl doesnt wanna involve her parents n all.

SO can u guys kindly advise as to how to tackle this sort of menace ??

Well,as far as scrapping is considered, it can be prohibited by clicking the "ignore user" option on the left-hand side menu in the profile page of the corresponding person.

The other problem can be dealt by the pandus surfing around.. :p ..Also please do not post such confidential details on a public [uncontrolled!] realm such as orkut! :|

EDIT: The tarun guy got it! :D

well... the prob is the chap already got the personal details...so just merely blocking him on orkut wont help, will it?

and just in case he turns out to be a psycho or something...that will jsut infuriate him further.

dude ill say ctct the cyber wing(cyber cell mumbai).......they maintain full privacy........as they are intellectual ppl...not normal pandu stuff...........

and its a cyber crime.....i would say do the stuff as early as possible.....before he does some misdeedlike(sending the number on cheap sites....i hopeu get wht i m trying to say)

I agree with Magnet. This has gone beyond Orkut's confines right. if that person bothers you outside orkut, best to call those cyber-crime guys up... before the matter goes out-of-hand..

vince is right... if the guy has personal details its better to get in contact with the cyber crime branch then doing anything else...
Ofcourse you can also try to talk up with the guy and make him understand that if this continues then ull complain to the cops and all..

i would suggest that ask all your freinds to report him as bogus and atleast get him out of orkut on the second part i agree that report to cyber crime dept.

Well...well

First step: Block him in Orkut

Sec step : Call him and try and make him understand that this isnt fun.

Third step: Change the mobile number if that doesnt work.

Fourth step : Never again post your personal details in a public site.

Just call him and tell him this is the CI calling, would you like to come to the station cause miss XXX is waiting for you here

;)

hmm... my friend sent him a msg via orkut yest that if he didnt stop this crap...he'd be dealing with the police soon..

so we're gonna wait for some time to see if he responds. if he doesnt respond or call up again, then all's fine else we complain to the cyber police.

heres what i would do....
:angel1:
1. See if you have common friends, send a message to one of them you know,or rather send the message across some common friend 's freind ..whatever.
2. wait for a few days / week ....
3. meanwhile pick up all the calls ,and simply keep hismeter running... ! dont talk . ; )

if that fails.... .... :devil2:
1. get his number ....
2. create a new profile as a girl ,with HIS number .
3. go and try flirting with some other cheapos ... if you can abuse a whole lot of other cheapos just like him , or guys u dont want to mess with - all the better !
4. sit back and let him have a taste of his own medicine...

all the best.... and oh ya almost forgot.... i hope ur friend learnt its not safe to give out numbers and photographs in the first place !

the thing is he found out her cell no. and stuff from her office database somehow (he was an ex-employee there)...

Why does everyone keep damning the friend for giving out her number? It was stolen from an office db, not orkut.

Yeah.. does this even fall under the "cyber-crime" category ???

I guess the smart thing to do is to get the girls parents involved. Its not her fault that this has happenned and it is better for her to have support at home. The situation can be explained to them in a proper manner.

If this dude doesnt stop after the threat, lodge a complaint with the cops. That should deter him.

Well the fact that he is harassing her over the phone and orkut does make it a cyber crime. And yes, those cops are probably more suitable for what you need.

thnx for ur inputs guys.

i guess my friend did the right thing by mailing him n asking him to stop the crap else he might be facing severe consequences....

so far nothing has happened and lets hope it stays that way.... else we are ready to approach the cyber cops...

PS : we're trying to implement that orkut thingy as well...(female id n stuff)..
