battery indeed ruined by this update. It drains as fast as 12% per hour when playing any game. I had to keep 'sync' off. Idle battery life not so bad - overnight with WiFi on (no download though) it drains 4/5% for me.

Another new problem was introduced - the screen acts weird sometimes when scrolling through the home pages. Had to restart to make it normal again. This happened quite a few times post update.

My overnight drop is around 40%.

Few more problems I am facing post 4.3 update
1. Contact name do not show in notifications for SMS.
2. SMS notification randomly disappears from lock screen/notification bar.
3. Alarm notification do not show even if alarm is ON. I had to do "on-off" of the alarm to show it on the bar.
4. Battery drains most when data connection is active.

Anyone did factory reset? Does it resolves the issues?

I did factory reset in 4.3 . I installed stock rom through odin again but battery drain is still the same . I'm on 3g data for full day . Battery drains fast much more than 4.2 rom . I'm on stock and I'm unrooted . Waiting for kitkat .

Got fed up of the battery drain issues!! Couple of calls and bam, down by 20%.
So I rooted my phone. Objective was to freeze all samsung bloatware using Titanium Backup and install Droidwall to control internet access.
Little by little, I have frozen a lot of (unwanted) samsung junk and things are slowly seeming to improve.
Now I am getting through 24 hours on a single charge with moderate usage.
Using tasker, Mobile data is switched on/off intermittently and flight mode is enabled from 12-6 in the night (secure settings needed)

Ditch the 4.3 update and install cyanogenmod M3 4.4.2 snapshot. Way smoother in my opinion. No significant bugs too!

Thanks for the suggestion.
Rooting itself was a big step for me as its been only a couple of months on Android for me, still learning the ropes.Have not got too much time to tinker around. Maybe when the official kitkat update for S3 is out, I would flash a Samsung based ROM...something like ArchiDroid.
