Ouch... I got a slap on the wrist from my ISP

I did the 1st time about 4.5 yrs ago, but when I never heard anything else from my ISP, and also did a little research..... I realized that when they receive these notices from the Media companies, they are legally bound to send me a warning... they don't care too much as long as they do not keep receiving notices from the Lawyers :P companies like Comcast are way to big to worry about the small fry like me :)
 
^^ seems u forgot abt that orkut episode in which airtel destroyed the life of a bangalore techie. worst is that guy was innocent.
 
some miscreants decided to say something rude about Shivaji on orkut. The scraps created a furore in mumbai where some shiv sena peeps got angry and put pressure on cops to investigate the case. The cops contacted the isp and google for help and the ip was traced to bangalore. Airtel gave ip address + home address of the supposed miscreant - this techie guy according to Airtel.

The poor guy was arrested and put in jail for abt 2-3 months and was beaten and also really bad thing were made to him, etc. and after all this it turned out that Airtel gave the wrong ip address to the police. Case closed, techie guys life ruined - was working with a big it co. and to top it Airtel gave hime notice why he didn't pay his Airtell bill!!:@

Talk abt getting arrested for no fault of yours!

Someone had an orkut account with derogatory comments/pictures of Chatrapati Shivaji. The police got the wrong IP from Airtel the guy was put in jail and hassled. After a month it is found out that airtel made a blunder.

AAAAAHHHHH...............That is really painful to hear....The guy MUST SUE AIRTEL....... even though it is india.....................
