your settings are totally within acceptable limits...with an Ultra120e you can easily go till 1.5V for vcore, do not increase your chipset voltage at all, though try and see if you can reduce it a bit till you get your HR-05

sure ..1.5v on proci is safe ? need to give 1.5v to chipset for stability .. i guess its within safe limits . isn't it .. got hr 05 sli .. just need to install it ..

also even after giving 1.55 v on proci .. its not stable at 3.2ghz... doesnt boot into windows over 3.2ghz with any settings whatsoever .. i guess its limit is reached..:( any suggestions to go over 3.2ghz ..;)

hey guys .. need some help .. not able to go above 3175mhz stable on e4400 with xfx 650i cooled by true 120 and chipset has hr05 sli ..

south bridge has no cooling at all .. now i am able to boot above 3.2 ghz but the prob is getting into windows which is not possible over 3.2 ghz ..

now putting some kind of cooling over south bridge would help ? anyone with same mobo ?

what are the settings in the bios??? more specifically whats the Vcore set to?? SB doesnt get too hot with these 650i boards, but do check by touching it, if its hot then u shud get a active/passive cooler, if its just warm then no need.

wow this is something awesome,gr8 info guyz i alwayz wanted to overclock but neva tryed as thought i will neva b able to do tht but now even i m going to try this for sure by da way my config-E6300,XFX 650i,1x2 DDR2 667MHz Transcend Ram,250GB SATA HDD,500w gold edition powerafe psu!this is my config is it fine if i try to overclock?and yeaa wat r the things i need to keep in mind b4 overclocking?will try and if i get stuck some where then will come back to u guyz. Thanks, sorry for de trouble.Cheers

it doesnt help even with 1.6v vcore . i cant get into windows above 3.2ghz . hence thought abt southbridge cooling as hdds are connected to it .. lets see if i can find anything .

southbridge very hot .. cannot touch it for more than 1 min .. i guess i need to get a cooler for it .. any suggestions other than one more hr05 sli :ohyeah: or any low profile cooler available in mumbai ..

ok .. got hr 05 sli on southbridge tooooo :ohyeah:

now the whole setup is at 3.2 ghz ..

have anybody here used this e4400 above 3.2ghz 24 x 7 ? i am not able to get it above 3.2 ghz .. i am not saying 1.2 ghz oc is not enough .. just that 3.4ghz would have been perfect with this proci ..

also i got kingston value ram 667 mhz .. how much do they oc? and what voltage .. within safe limits that is .. :)

as u might know my e4300 does 3.3 for 24/7 usage, and can go till 3.55 stable but temps are on high range. So i think even e4400 should be able to do this much, and now u have HR05 on both NB(just assuming) and SB so it should be able to do atleast 3.4-3.5ghz.

i know e4300 are great clockers .. but my e4400 is of poor batch .. wont go above 3.2 ghz whatever voltage i feed it with ...:( made a bad choice.. should have gone for e4300 .. anyways .. actually i was building this setup for someone else .. and yeah .. i do have hr 05 sli on both northbridge and southbridge .. northbridge has active cooling ...80 mm fan
will try something else ..

what abt ram though ..? how high they can clock and with what voltage ?

but my e4400 is of poor batch .. wont go above 3.2 ghz
?

Excuse me, but I am confused :) how do you figure that 3.2 ghz is a bad overclock ? This is 1.2 ghz more than stock speed, and is more than 50% faster. I always see everyone comparing their overclocks to everyone elses sytems.... you just can't do that... you would have to have an identical system to have a comparison. I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but it just doesn't work that way. How much more could you really squeeze out of this cpu, and how much would you need to spend onthe hardware to allow you to do this. IMHO 3.2 is a pretty decent overclock, maybe not as good as someone elses, but good all the same. Be happy with what you have accomplished it's pretty good :D especially if it is good and stable.

hey .. dont tell me what is good and what's not :) .. most e4300 can do 3.4 ghz .. so i expected same from this cpu .. that's it .. :P i think with better mobo it can do 3.4 easily ..

i am not here comparing my oc to others .. its just that with true 120 with two 120 mm push/pull fan config and 2 hr 05 sli on both chipsets . i expected it to do better .. and 1.2 ghz oc is by no means less .. and abt spending on other hardware .. . what i got is true 120 cpu cooler .. and two chipset coolers .. the northbridge heatsink on xfx board is not enough . and u can say that putting hr05 sli on southbridge is too much .. but i just did not find any low profile cooler .. anyways . i can use these chipset coolers on future mobos .. and they are way better than any heatpipe setups new mobos have ..

I don't doubt that you can do 3.4 if you really want to, just saying that 3.2 is still a good overclock :) And I didn't say that YOU were comparing YOUR system, I was speaking in general terms of what I see here on the forums :P Not all e4300 are capable of doing 3.4... depends on batch and when it was produced. I'm not knocking you for trying to accomplish 3.4, I really hope you make it with a stable system :D I have a pretty decent system too, and can push 3.4 fairly well and stable too, but I choose to keep it at a very stable 3.2 my more intensive apps seem to run more smoothly. I am running an evga 680i with 4gb ocz ddr2 800mhz and an e4300 with evga 8800 320mb in an Antec 900 with a CoolerMaster 850w PSU, and overclocked everything, and temps are holding up nicely, so I hope you didn't take that the wrong way, but IMHO I still think 3.2 is a decent overclock :P

looks like .. mobo is the limiting factor here ...:(

hey anyone here using gigabyte ga p35 ds3r mobo ? looks quite neat ..

price .. any idea ?

man, as pixel said not all e4300 reaches 3.4-3.5, and even if they do there are other factors involved in overclocking than just bumping the FSB. So be happy with the overclock you got. If you are not then give screenshot of your advance settings and then maybe i can suggest.
