Pakistan hikes defence budget by nearly 15 per cent in 2024-25

Seems you are the only one around here who is worried. We also have good defense budget but we don't disclose it even if media manages to publicise somehow.
This is not about us having bigger and better than them. The matter of concern is that the terrorism continues. Look at J&K. Three cases in a week or so.

Pretty sure the entire country is worried about terrorism.

Entire Pakistan economy is at the army's disposal, doesn't make much of a difference how much they allocate on paper. I doubt they are paying terrorists from their defense budget.

If the pak army does the country's farming, foreign diplomacy, running the govt , devising state policies, bringing business and fdi it is expected that they take the major share. Sharif and his donkeys are for show only.

Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif vows to 'eliminate terrorism' after 7 soldiers killed in restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Do we really need these click-baity type topics here on a tech forum?
Correction: TechEnclave is not exclusively a tech forum. You can always choose to ignore a topic you don't like instead of going around telling others what to post.

Whatsapp mediocrity has crept into TE as well.
Nothing mediocre here
Worry about the doldrums situation of your country rather than poking nose into others business.
Err what? How is talking about potential threats poking 'nose into others business'?

See not long ago Pakistan was in the hole but somehow managed to get out of it. Who helped them? Why were they helped?

Maybe you can enlighten us

It surely is. As far as budget is concerned you can't do a damn what other countries do, the only thing that you should be concerned is what you are doing.

They are sovereign not suzerain and has the right to do what they can, if you get fidgety with a small increment despite having 6-7 times the defence budget then it speaks a lot about your character.

This made up infatuation about Pakistan since 2014 onward is an intentional poison fed to the country primarily to divert the mind from real issues.

If they attack us then they are the ones screwing with us. Given the past rabid pattern that wouldn't be out of the question

An increase in budget means the likelihood of an attack increases. Is this something to be concerned about?

Uri, patahankot, Pulwama.

Who is administering poison there.

Who is infatuated with whom here?

I've said what I wanted to I don't want to get into the rabbit hole. Mark Twain once said "Don't argue with.."

The point is you are a hot head, cool your mind and then think. Whats the point of 56" if you can't ward off an attack? Then, any govt is as good as this one. Isn't it?

An inanely simple yet insanely difficult idiom- Think out of the box.

That is a question of sub conventional deterrence. Balakote showed conventional can act as a deterrent.

All of a sudden instead of the world saying India should show restraint. The narrative got flipped. The pressure was on the paks to show restraint. Proof being we got our pilot back within 48 hours that too after he took out an F16 with a earlier generation Mig 21
Then, any govt is as good as this one. Isn't it?
No, because this govt demonstrated there will be costs. This govt picked a fight with China in a third country of all places.

Where did that confidence come from? Because the last one certainly wasn't in a position to do the same.
An inanely simple yet insanely difficult thought - Think out of the box.
You couldn't answer my prior question so let me clue you in.

Pakistan was put on the grey list for terror financing. They were on it for some years and the expectation was this would remain until they made tangible changes. Being on the grey list increased their loan borrowing costs. In effect penalising their ability to finance terrorism

Then one day they were no longer in that list. This coincided with India's reluctance to condemn Russia over Ukraine.

So India demonstrating it is sovereign by standing up to the west comes with costs. This thread is about addressing one of them. The other thread about Canada gets into another one.

Getting the picture now?

It's funny how hypocritical your post is. You're nosing into a debate of others while lecturing others that they nose into others' business. I don't understand this mentality fr. Why do people assume that they are mega intellectuals who get to decide what people talk about? Save your "Whatsapp tag" for Reddit please.

We give a damn about geopolitics and this so called Whatsapp mediocrity is also a part of that.

We get fidgety cuz it's a source of terrorism. Any investment they make amounts to more cross border disputes which ultimately means more casualties for us. We do care about it even if it's one life. Get off your 6-7 times the defense budget high horses and think in terms of ground reality for once.

Yeah Pakistan is a peace loving country and the since 2014 govt has demonized them. Touch some grass man, you can't be so out of touch from reality. There are many issues yes, but this is as important as others. Pretty visible where your political interests are.

Yeah that's one way to leave lol.

Yes, you're right. Please form a new govt youself and ward off all the attacks in that magic trick thought out of the box.

I am really surprised to see such comments on a mostly harmless thread. Pakistan a well-known and well-established source of terrorism increased its defense budget and it's a valid point of discussion. Pakistan being a terrorist hell hole has nothing to do with any govt or any individual. India has never been infatuated with Pakistan, it's a cancer that keeps on giving. And, Pakistan is within its rights to spend whatever dime it has. But this discussion is not about that, no one questioned their right, it was their intent that's the matter of discussion. And someone already pointed out, these b***rds are just planning their UK retirement.
