Well.. I once made a paper plane that flew over 80 ft. Only thing was that it did the distance in a vertical direction, from my brother's apartment window to the ground below. Does that count as a record..? :S (I'd like to consider that it did a landing.. :bleh:)
Thank god u did not end up choosing Engineering as ur carrer.

Here are the Steps:

Take a square paper and fold it in half diagonally. Open up the sheet and refold it in hald the other way round diagonally in such a manner that the first diagonal coincides with the 2nd half of the paper.
Now, open up the entire square sheet. U'll now have a square sheet with a total of 2 diagonals and 4 sub diagonals. Take a corner of the square sheet and fold it midway till the first diagonal. Now, take the opposite corner and fold it halfway till the 2nd diagonal. Your square sheet will now look like a quadrilateral.
Now, the remaining corners of the square sheet need to be folded till the crease by about one fourth the length of the other two pre folded corners. Repeat the same for both the remaining corners.
The previously folded corners are to form the wings and need creases, Using your nails, fold the corners outside leaving a gap of half an inch between the inner and outer corner. Make deep creases. Make sure that both the deep creases coincide with each other.
You are almost there. Now, the corners that were folded first need to be opened out. The one on the right forms the fuselage and the one onthe left forms the tail. The tail is short and needs 2 reverse folds keeping a gap of about half a centimeter.
The fuselage can be left as it is...

That is the most precise sets of instructions...
Let me know once you complete the model... And Please post pics!!!

OP,does your plane go straight?if you fold the tail up like that,it'd just go high, lose speed and fall or travel in circles?
had collected quite a few books on paper plane modeling, stopped folding planes since many years.
Correct, to fly you need to tweak the rear tail and wings up/down. It takes some tries and eventually it would go in straight line. As I said earlier, this was for an office fun event but now seems I have a timepass for office :P
