The numbers of the dead vary.
Sources claim 4-5 of the attackers have been "neutralized", again not specified whether they have been killed or arrested.

On a night when thousands of Paris residents and tourists were reveling and fans were enjoying a soccer match between France and world champion Germany, horror struck in an unprecedented manner. Terrorists -- some with AK-47s, some reportedly with bombs strapped to them --attacked sites throughout the French capital and at the stadium where the soccer match was underway.

Google "paris shootings" for more.

Woke up to this terrible news today..! :(
No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks yet, but many suspect the ISIS.

9/11 (11/9 Indian format) dammit CNN, 26/11 and 13/11. November is a Black month. Should all countries which face terrorist activities in their soil enhance security in November?
Like the Mumbai 26/11 attacks :(
Experts believe that the attacks were carried out or inspired by the same group who attacked Mumbai. Well trained-terrorists, well co-ordinated attacks targetting locations with weak security.

Of the injured 80 are in critical condition. 8 gunmen have been killed. Country-wide searches are on for the accomplices.
On a side note if this had, god forbid, taken place in India the situation would be far worse. This is just another incident for the country to look into our security measures. The govt. only talks about security when something like this happens. And most of our security deployed in the streets still carry sticks, ancient one-shot rifles and are also not physically fit and not trained properly.

News. CNN (no other view'able news channels by cable). Some terrorists analysts something something. Btw i didn't say "same", in their own words "attacks seem to have been carried out by the same or inspired by the group who attacked Mumbai"[DOUBLEPOST=1447485863][/DOUBLEPOST]Also "copy-cat by US Security Experts" on NDTV,

^I googled.

Yeah, gotta love the desi news media wording... Agreed that "copycat" does not necessarily mean by the same group or even inspired by the same group, it just means they just look the same, which is also what I meant when posted in my initial comment/post on this thread.

I haven't been watching TV at all today yet though, let's see if any claims by the attackers or terror analysts that this was in fact inspired by the Mumbai attacks.

Even if its proved, no one will come forward for concrete actions against pakistan.
US will keep spoon feeding them and others along with India will keep tolerating them.

We should be 'Tolerant' towards the ideology of terrorists and perpetrators of terrorist activities ; though 153 people lost their basic right to live, we should ensure that the perpetrators of such a heinous crime receive fair trial & protect their human rights...
Big BS..
It's high time we tackled ISIS head on..

Bunch of hyprocrites in the mainstream media and social networks. Just 2 days back 41 people died in Lebanon, last month over a hundred in Turkey and in Sept around 140 in Nigeria all due to terrorist attacks but no one spammed their flags anywhere to show solidarity (heck even Amazon.in has a French flag on the homepage today) , but somehow white skinned people's lives matter more.
Not to even mention the number of innocent civilians that've been killed in the middle east and Syria due to constant bombings by the US.

Innocent lives have been lost on both sides which is really sad but this one sided media coverage pisses me off.

It's the problem of particular ideology. Which needs to be condemned. The fact is that the people who are killed in muslim countries are killed by muslims themselves. Basically its there ideology that other muslims are not willing to condemn. They still try to defend there beliefs even through there own are being sacrificed.

Due to that, the western world also have to face the heat. Why should other people who are not at all interested in that ideology or religion are being killed?
It's obvious that muslims wants to convert everyone to there own religion. This is wrong. And that's why other people in western world attack these muslim countries to stop them from unleaching there own ideology upon them.

Everyone have a right to live and protect themselves and to follow whatever religion they want to follow. If you would pressurize them to look things only your way then they would retaliate. And you loose your right to live and follow if you don't respect the right of others. Stop converting others to islam and others too won't be threatened by you. Be in peace with others and try to follow the native rules of the place where you live. Don't try to change or impose your own beliefs in every country that you live in.

@redhotiron2004 Lol this is why I don't post on such topics, you are just generalizing and regurgitating what you see on tv. Not gonna spend my evening writing an essay to tell you how ignorant your post is on so many levels.

You are not wrong, but you are not right either. People in those countries kill each other. Its mostly rebels/terrorists vs the government. The bad thing here is these terrorists try to force their ideologies on others, heck even attack foreign countries in the process. All these problems forced other countries to attack militant affected areas. As for the dead civilians, its unavoidable in wars.
As for France its a developed country and terrorist attacks on a developed country which has one one of the best security in the world is actually shocking. I think that the media also want to express this part. Don't forget the French head of government was also nearby where the explosions occured.
And even though the media may ignore the problems of the third world countries they have also not completely ignored them.
Last but not the least, the whole world hates ISIS. And the irony here is for the first time the world is united against a common group.
I'm not trying to justify all these.[DOUBLEPOST=1447510248][/DOUBLEPOST]One of the things which I hate about Indian media is their love of always claiming to be "the first in the scene", "the news channel to carry the most detailed info on X-subject" etc etc. Things like these just grosses me out. If you are a media just do your job, covering the latest happenings and issues, don't claim to be the best and shit. Let your viewers judge. Sadly there is no truly reliable media now and there never will be.

Again you guys are just generalizing w/o knowing anything about the entire middle east situation, I recommend reading up on the situations in Iraq, Libya and now Syria and events that led to the creation of ISIS instead of just generalizing everyone in the middle-east as religious extremists in black robes killing each other, the situation is much more complicated and messed up in each of those countries and the west is partly to blame, heck even Tony Blair apologized earlier this month for his Iraq war "mistakes" that has led to the present situation.
There are always two sides to every story.

I kinda agree with psyph3r. People are questioning and worried about Muslim conversions but Christianity has done the same thing at a much larger level. Doesn't make it right but it's just like the pot calling the kettle black. Anyone with even the least bit of brains can see how the ISIS came into being. Hell they even carry weapons made by US when they fight against them.
Yes they are wrong in the way they do things but they aren't the ones who started meddling in other country's affairs.

This. How can the Americans be so blind and dumb is beyond me, every time they show ISIS footage on the news they are either in Humvees or some other armored vehicle used by the US army.
Not to forget the huge number of Toyota pick-ups that are in use in Syria, in fact they didn't even scrape the decal off of this one which belonged to a plumbing company based in Texas.

Just last month there was a video on Liveleak where a convoy of ISIS vehicles was being escorted by an Apache helicopter, around the time Russia intervened in Syria.

It really doesn't matter at this point. Middle-East is a s#!tshow and has been for few centuries. Europe came close being one during two world wars but recovered rather quickly.
