I have my father's last name mismatch on my inter/highschool certificate (correct on aadhar/pan) because the school teacher just assumed, a month difference on aadhar - birth certificate (correct in inter/high school certificate, aadhar and pan)
Now i also want to apply for Passport asap travel but how should I go about this?
Well, not to worry.
I had a longer name attached to my primary name and the same was for my father till my schooling.
Come in college and I took matters in my hands and I shortened both my dads and my name. That time aadhar was not invented!
Thereafter, I went ahead with the new name and I was never questioned by the college while issuing me certificates or during admissions right from11th till my graduation and then my pg etc.
My pan then was on my shortened name by my father refused to shorten his name stating that on all his govt. ids like pan/voter/ration/other in-office govt. ids were on his original name. I was like ok!
The I started working and everything was on my new identity/name while I only kept putting my fathers first alphabet and thats it, no confusion no jhanjhat!
Then came aadhar era in yr 2008 but even that got passed easily as it was the initial stage and everyone was given a choice in names/initials etc.
My passport also went through without issues but then on my passport name of father was full-fledged while on my pan and aadhar was shortened one.
I didn't bothered as I got the passport smoothly!
Now, in the yr 2021 when I went to get/apply for marriage certificate, I was questioned as a marriage cert. gets issued based on school leaving cert. name and on that both me and fathers name was imprinted the old long name style The officers got confused as my pan had father first alphabet while aadhar had a shortened name and on cert. it was rtotally different.
I convinced them somehow..took 5-8 mins and my marriage cert. came on my current name just the way I wanted it to!
In 2022 when I wanted to renew my passport, first my wife faced a lot of issues with her fathers name due to "I" used instead of "EE" and vice-versa on both pan/aadhar. So, first via affidavit she had to get her aadhar/pan changed and only then she applied for passport and everything came clean aka records should be identical on both pan/aadhar on her and her fathers ids.
And here my dad refused to make the changes or entertain any such affidavit so I had to reapply for a fresh pan doing some jugaad/tukka and got the name changed properly on my pan and aadhar and both fingers-crossed came neat/clean and thus I was able to secured my passport!
And in all this I didn't had to deal with any agent but all by myself using the usual govt. online process!
Followed the usual online application/correction and that worked!
