Laptops Pathetic Sony Vaio Support - Please advise and help

:sos::wtf:I bought the VPCEB16FG off ebay and received the laptop in perfect condition on last Friday. Spent the weekend and transferring the data (All official data - laptop meant to be used as work/home laptop) and yesterday night, the adaptor stopped working.

Logged a complaint this morning, sony support advised me to deposit the laptop + adaptor at the nearest service center.

Reached the service center at Sushant Lok, Gurgaon, they asked for a warranty card! I told them to check the warranty status from the serial number. The rep stated that they will submit the adaptor and it will be replaced. I asked them to expedite as it is my work laptop; also requested to provide with a standby adaptor. They didn't had any adaptor in stock.

To my surprise I received a call from the rep stating that my laptop's detail aren't registered/available on the intranet and I must send them a scanned copy of the bill.

Scanned the bill, mailed it, again got a call stating since it is a new model, the adaptor replacement will take at least 5 working days!!!
Can you imagine the status of sony support?

I work in a MNC where IT backup is though online UPS. There is no fluctuations or surges, and you spend almost 50k and your laptop's adaptor goes bust on day 3, leaving you standstill, what do you do?

Please help/advise brothers. I've apprised the situation and expresses my resentment to the vendor. He has assured to help me out tomorrow morning, but I am really angry and discontented over Sony's pathetic support.

Dude 5 days time for RMA is acceptable.No one can provide you on spot RMA.If you have urgency then purchase another adapter.
 
even i am facing problems with my vaio ...
i have VAIO CS17G , i am facing multiple problems with .... there are serious manufacturing fault in it, even branch manager of SONY exclusive accepts it , still i m not getting replacement, he promised me to replace it no. of times ,,but all those are false things..... also i have paid 5000 rs for extension of warranty last year,, but i m yet not received oficial document of extension.... he said SONY INDIA stopped giving extended warranty card....but when i checked with sont customer care , they said i should get it within 1 week max...... but he denies it.......m sure that he has gulped that money.....Seriously SONY INDIA is most Pathetic when it comes to service n support .... also now when i ask him abt replacement he says ...initial 1 yr period was GUARANTEE ...and now it under just extension warranty so he cant replace..... in that initial 1 yr period he wud had replaced the item but not now....even the product is having manufacturing fault.......,,, now u guys tell who uses the term GUARANTEE in todays world ..:@:@

ppl dont go after there false promises when purchasing sony products:@:@

n that guy was not ordinary guy...he was Branch manager of a SONY EXCLUSIVE showroom....:@
 
its a true story that on all brands whether its multinational or Local many customers are satisfied with warranty support issues, many not and few are on neutral!!!

and from the last year , the failure rates of all products even premium brands are risen drastically and even the thier ASPs fail to convince customer issues , and on some cases they were duped by ASPs !!!

Many ASPs are not properly trained or have good technical skill to handle the issues!!!also they dont have proper tools & even spares !!!

That means sony India can't arrange a simple adaptor in 5 days? And I am not speaking of the laptop. They said that since it is a newly launched product, adaptor is not available in India. God bless their supply chain.

To be frank , yes Sony has decreased the quality of their products to stay in the Indian market . Earlier on the Sony Cybershots were much better than the Cybershots available now , but just to reduce the price they did it . Same case for Vaio too , earlier owning a Sony Vaio was like owning heaven but now Sony had reduced the prices to beat Dell but unfortunately failed to beat Dell .

Till today the best warranty is provided by Dell . My adaptor and power switch were all haywire due to luggage checking at the Calcutta airport :@:@

But Dell took only 1 working day to return me the laptop in working condition

Nothing comes close to Dell's customer service and warranty
 
Thanks for the info. I've recommended my friend(s) against buying laptops from Sony.
 
Man chill, its Eletronic/Computer after all. if its cost 10k or 100k. the system does fail sometimes. no big deal.

The one strange thing, if the charger/adaptor was faulty? why did you deposit laptop(which was working fine)? one can always use another one to charge.if its sony service policy then its plain stupid. they need to change it

No. It would take more time(10-15days) for a refund. so better get it replace from service center
 
Sony asked me to deposit the laptop as they need it to check the new charger is working or not (He he he). Upon giving them a dose, they politely returned the laptop but couldn't provide me with a standby charger. So without it I am unable to use the laptop. New charger costs Rs 3000.

you can use another laptop's charger.check with your friends? or someone in office? someone might have same model of charger(with same wattage) as yours. many different model of laptops have common chargers

VGP-AC19V33: 90W with Output: 19.5Volts 4.7Amps
 
Yes, but it wont suffice for the whole day. Also only the senior leadership uses VAIO (Read CEO,CFO,COO). Can't borrow the charger every 2 hours from them. :-)
 
Oh, that would be great. I have an HP charger rated at 18.5 V, the sony charger was 19-19.5 v.
Would it be OK? From where can I get this tip convertor?
Also can anyone suggest me an alternate cheap charger.
 
5 days is very reasonable for an RMA. I would have expected the standard 2 weeks. If you want NBD/Enterprise class service, gotta pay those prices/buy a dell !
 
It does take 5 days to RMA. 5 days is very less... try to RMA a Seagate HDD in Pune with those idiot Accel Frontline ppl... see the response you get... Then you will know that Sony might be better.

If you cannot do without your laptop, then you can ask around your friends if anyone has a laptop adapter that fits your model or else buy a standby adapter.

Since you say its a very new model the chances of you getting a standby adapter also are slim but still try.
 
7 days have been passed. No sign of adapter. Mr Yatin at the service center states:

1. He has no info about the adapter.

2. Neither he can comitt nor he can explore when the adapter will be available.

3. If I wish I can return the laptop to sony, he hasn't got to do anything with it.

Can you help me in providing e-mail ids of sony's top bosses?

What shall I do?
