Hey guys, I am planning to build a new pc for my productivity work. After watching a lots of blogs and YT videos, I'm confused as to which processor (intel i5 12600k or Amd Ryzen 7 5800x)to go for before buying them.please help me out from this.

Thanks in advance.

5800x runs a bit hot so buy it if you want to go for an AIO. Video editing needs a powerful GPU too. Get the best CPU/GPU combo in your budget and you are good to go.

Thx powervgx for the reply

Suggest me a best processor in this two intel i5 12600k or ryzen 7 5800x for photo and video editing. Softwares like Adobe cc, davinci resolve, lightroom

neither, 13600KF is the one you should target in that budget :D
Thx ishahank for your reply.......
Ur opinion abt amd processor ??

davinci resolve
Get and AMD GPU if you're gonna be using Resolve as main video editor - benefits a lot from an equally priced AMD GPU compared to Nvidia. For processor, AMD is good but more expensive than Intel this generation. If you're okay with the used market, get a 5800X from there, a B550 motherboard and some fast DDR4 RAM (3200Mhz at the least but 3600Mhz recommended) and it will give you 80-90% identical experience compared to a new 13600KF system for a much less price

I would pass on a 5800x, if going AMD I would go with a 5700x + b450 or cheap b550

Most recommendations depends upon the price at which you getting.
M2 Macbook ftw for productivity.

Soldered SSDs are too much of an insult to the community, rather leave it for rich folks with money to burn on beta hardware.

Don’t be a part of ”i hate apple” tribe. Keep an open mind about technology. For example mac books are not beta hardware. Look at the budget tag… macbook air is definitely in the budget. If you keep open the we can get into technical details like ssds and advantages of processor architectures etc…

Also, op mentioned photo and video editing… MacBook screens are calibrated for such work you know… m2 air with davinci resolve is unbeatable combination for video editing.

Neither - i5 13500 is a good value under 25k

I disagree with this. M series is not a Beta hardware. It is very good. If someone is looking for a laptop for video editing then I don't think any Windows laptop can come close to M series because he will also get a color accurate screen, a processor designed for video editing and full performance on battery. But the op is looking for a desktop so the situation changes.

M1 and M2 are good but the pirce is good only for Video editing and that too if one will be using Final cut pro. A M1 ultra is about 35% slower than a desktop RTX 3050 in applications which require raw graphics horsepower. Yes, Apple lied when they used their charts to show that M series is better than a 3090. A 3090 consumes more power but it is way more powerful too. M1 was a great value for money when GPU prices were insane but that is not the case anymore. A color accurate screen starts only from 25k and it is good enough. My suggestion is to go ahead with the Windows desktop.

In 2-3 years if you use the device like a pro, its SSD health will be at 70-80%, below 75% is a ticking time bomb. I once reached the Windows OS drive at 77% health and I used to panic what if it fails until I cloned and replaced it and I was at peace again.

So yeah, if you can buy new m2 air every 2-3 years it is definitely unbeatable combination assuming PC doesn't exist. Not to mention the free OCD of SSD health checking once you buy any macbook, it doesn't even matter if it will fail but it can fail is enough. Apple is good for iPhone and iPad though.

If you think SSDs don't fail:

Where do you get these things from… throwing some random numbers and percentages wont make your logic valid…

Personally i have done too much testing on ssds. Way too much compared to what a normal person uses. Things like fio, vdbench are daily routine for me. Of course not on my m2 mac but i am used to having bleeding edge server hardware at my disposal at work. for example; at my previous company I worked on a server which broke world records at 10 million IOPS. Google VSS2249R

Actually you both are right. @booo is right because the ssd can easily lasts several years and a few years of life from a system used for professional work is pretty good. Moreover an M user will use an external drive for video editing so I don't think it is an issue.
But on the other hand @ishashank is also right. Even Louis Rossmann used to talk about the same power issue in Macbooks and how poorly designed circuits and components are leading to premature death and data loss in Macbooks.
Lastly, I think mods need to move this discussion to a new thread.

See its very simple, there is a metric called MTBF (mean time between failures) and is not usually published for consumer grade ssds. And also apple ssds as it is proprietary information for them. Without that metric one can claim anything. Due to the scale at which MacBooks and iPhones are made; the ssds will be custom and their specs and stats won’t be available in public domain. Also things like wear leveling etc…
Coming to Louis Rossman; he has a negative bias towards apple. Thats how his business makes money and his youtube channel makes money.

I am using hyper 212 and there is no issue. AiO is risky as coolant leak will kill. Would rather go with Noctua d15 for better cooling.
