Hello. I have a CH560 from deepcool that I usually use with Sony WH720N, however Helldivers 2 has made it impossible to use wireless because there is simply no sound produced from any applications when I try to.
While using it wired there's a constant, unending humming noise produced from my case. I experimented a bit and found that placing my finger on the top of the case at any spot stops the sounds, but I can't figure out why. Can someone help me?

Just a wild guess - could it be earthing issue ? Not sure but i think i had noise in headphones many years ago because of that. Adapter did not have earth pin or something like that.

That could be it, I'm using my PSU with an adapter because it won't fit into normal sockets. Getting new socket for the PSU sometime this week, I'll let you know if it works. Thank you.
 
Hello everyone, and happy new year. It's been a over half an year, but I have an update(?). I got my CH560 replaced with a CH560 digital and the noise is still there, so I looked it up and found a very good explanation on reddit from the usual helpful person, [deleted account].

"This is a super common problem with on-board audio. It's caused by electrical interference in the power supply, mixed with poor grounding. You can fix it by eliminating the source of the noise, grounding the noise out of the system or masking it. Masking it isn't usually an option if you want high fidelity though.

Another comment said to not use front audio jack on your case. This will help a lot, in addition to other fixes:
  • Use an external DAC, hooked to the PC with USB. Since the DAC isn't powered by the PSU, and by their nature ignore extra noisy signals, external noise is eliminated. Most external dacs are two channel stereo.
  • Use a high end motherboard with a built in DAC. Basically any name brand sound chip from someone like creative labs will be good enough. The noise filtering in their setups usually overcomes any EMI shortcomings in the PSU.
  • The power going into your PC might be a bit dirty, so look into power filtering devices. Most UPSs or expensive power strips will smooth out the 120VAC enough to fix the static. Look for one with line filtering.
  • Buy a dedicated audio card and put it in a pcie slot. This is what I did on my legacy PC a couple years ago. I think it was a sound blaster audigy x-fi or something, bought on sale for about $60. A card with a SNR of lower than -100dB is probably sufficient.
  • Use the audio software that comes with your Mobo to artificially remove the static. This one is a little more unpredictable and is only available on some boards. It's worth looking into but don't count on it.
  • Sometimes a fan in the PC has an unshielded motor. Anything that has an electrical motor, like a case fan, needs to be shielded or it will leak EMI. Likewise, any cable that isn't shielded works like an antenna to EMI. If you have a case fan on the rear of the case, near where the on-board audio chip is, try disabling it. This is also the reason the front port is so noisy - the cable is usually unshielded, the jack is unshielded, and is near a bunch of fans.

It could be that just one of these things will fix the problem, but YMMV."

"If its the front connector, its because there is electrical interference.
On many cases the circuitry/wires that connect that to the motherboard are not well shielded, so when your 600W gaming pc is in full operation there is a LOT of interference, which causes the buzzing."

I plugged the jack into the back of the case, and it didn't fix the problem but the sound was louder now, so it credits the explanation that there are wires somewhere that aren't shielded to the motherboard, causing interference from other electrical parts in the case which is louder at the rear of the case, because there are more electrical parts (I think).
I'm getting a fault line detector to find out if the issue is with grounding, and if it is I'll get an electrician to fix it but if it isn't I'm getting a DAC. Does anyone have a list of good DACs under 6K?

which motherboard do you use?
 
It used to happen in my dvd player back in 2007... I think its because of earthing, check with a tester screwdriver or touch metal part/usb port with a wet finger while standing barefoot
 
For the DAC, buy any Type-C DAC honestly. The Apple one is really good, and can come as low as ₹400 during sales.
Otherwise, I usually use HeadphoneZones to shop for DACs
