Take a look at this: Dirt 2 benchmarks - DX 9 vs. DX 11 - Update: Radeon HD 5970 results - Colin McRae Dirt 2, DirectX 9 vs. DirectX 11, Test, Benchmark - PC Games Hardware

For a simple game like Dirt 2, HD5770 gives some 55 fps max in dx9 mode but when run in dx11 mode, it gives some 33fps. And this is just at 1280x1024 resolution with full settings.

Imaging playing a graphically intense game like Alan Wake in dx11 mode and FullHD.

YOU JUST CAN'T PLAY IT WITH HD5770.

And at FullHD, HD5770 gives some 46fps in dx9 mode and just 31fps in dx10 mode. GTX275 on the other hand monsters 56fps in dx10 mode FullHD.

What is the max he can allocate for the GPU --> and not get kicked by his parents. Is it like...only a certain portion can be put into the GPU, or he has a free hand with the over all budget. HD5770 will not be fun on full HD.

i dont know, but even my parents wont spend around 15k for a graphics card :P
i think 11k is max.

i'll post when i get the quotation :D

Chk IVG HD 5850 for 12.5k with 2 yrs warranty.....grab it if u can get it.

IVG HD 5850 ?

even google fails to show me any result :bleh:
it shows this thread as 1st result tho :ohyeah:

Why is he showing the individual prices to his parents? Just tell them the total cost and not bother them with cost of the gfx card. :)

got a good news, his dad told him that the budget now is 95k with a Printer, a Revolving Chair :P & all the VAT & other tax crap.

told him to get price on HP F4488 - Theitdepot - HP Deskjet F4488 All In One Printer

Is that Intel DP55WB better than the Gigabyte?

so, what needs to be scrapped to accommodate a 5850 & still keep that HAF? :D
he was drooling over the phone about the HAF. :D

1znrafr.png

no room for 5850, 4GB RAM costs 8k.

total around 85-86k + 10k [VAT] (assumption)=95-96k TOTAL. :D

he told me now, the wireless snazzy looking keyboard is his dad's request :p

i'll get back after dinner :)

I guess, parents like to check invoice papers when they are funding. :)

A revolving chair...oooh. Nice dad...!

Well the Intel DP55WB is a Vanilla Intel Board. It will not offer OC capability. If your friend will not OC :( then he can go for this. It is priced at RS. 5933.

Well you are shy 6K for the HD5850. The Corsair TW3X4G-1333C9 4GB Kit @ RS 7380 @ Lynx. Your quotes seem high. Can he order online. Also why is your friend going for an external sound card. He can not take take that and save around 3.5K. And if dad can be convinced to get a normal keyboard, we are home for the HD5850..?

this is from Golcha's

Update:

the budget has fallen back to original 65k mark :(

his dad is buying thru office, & he's retiring in Q1 next year, so when he retires, he'll have to pay the depreciated value of that desktop back, if its around 30-40% then its ok, but will it be?

so, he settles for 22" LCD, cheaper ASUS m/b

imo, the things that shouldnt be compromised on-
