e8400 aint bad. its just not vfm. you can get similar perf by moderately ocing a e7200/7300. Imo its pointless to spend on the e8xxx lineup when the e7xxx lineup can provide similar performance with just a slight OC.

and frankly, i'm not convinced about the need for quads just yet. you could rather spend the saved money on a better gfx card.

and if you get a Intel Original Board, you can forget about ocing btw..

I have no intention of buying an Intel Original board. The reason i feel for quads is my past upgrade pattern ain't so good if you see i still use a P4 :) so wanted what best i can get ...:D

The following is my suggestion, Might not be conventional, but that's what i'd go with on a 30k budget. I tend to aim for a well rounded config. Processor upgrades are subject to diminishing returns, and im going to take into consideration the system's performance as a whole instead of individual performance of components. Hence, the following :-

Motherboard: Gigabyte G31 S2L = 2,400

CPU: E7300 = Approx. 5,000~

Cooling: Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer/OCZ Vendetta 2 = 2,500

RAM: Pi Blacks/Ballistix/Dominators/Reapers 2x2 GB DDR2 800 Mhz, Get these Via KMD, Price subject to change/variable = 3-4-5,000

GPU: HD 4850 = ~8,500

Cabinet+PSU: Antec Sonata III(make sure you take the optional front mounted Antec Tricool 120mm fan as well) with 550W Earth Watts PSU = Approx. 8,000.

Total = In or around 30,000

Get the CPU to atleast 3.2 Ghz ASAP(VERY much do-able, my suggestion is to stick to stock voltage though). You should be able to keep up with low end quads, clock per clock.

Regardless of which config you go for, do comment and keep us updated :)

Thanks everyone over here for quick replies will be going to CTC hyderabad to get the quotes over here and then check with our dealers...to get the perfect balance...will keep updating :hap2:

You ought to check out the no. of awards every MSI product has won!
They're more reliable than asus boards...
Gigabyte & MSI are the best in terms of long-term reliability

care to back it up?

imo awards dont define reliability/usability. End users are the best judges for the same. And from whatever i seen being mentioned on various forums the lower end MSI's are better avoided
 
Well . .currently I think Intel is the leader in performance. ( Don't ask me to back that up .. I haven't read any reviews of Phenom II s).

About cabinet , go with the CM690. Its THE BEST!

And for PSU go with Corsair VX450. It should be suffice and Corsair PSUs are very stable.

You can save some money if you go for dual core now . My reco:

Don't agree with MSI though.
MSI sucks in term's of RMA.

Hmm thinking of skipping the GPU and going for phenom II (920 or might just go for 940 black edition) and 790GX will buy the GPU later,going 790GX chipset as its got SB750 and i heard SB750 is better for good overclocking and getting G-skill PI for Ram, CM690 and corsair 450VX . Gonna buy this weekend finally
