Hi friends,

After doing research on net I got some idea of pc components to be bought, but still would like to know from experts (TE forum).

My need is:-
1. VMware (would like to have base as ubuntu and windows to be installed in it),
2. Windows would be for games of medium graphics, my screen resolution is 1920*1080
3. Lots of multiple apps (like songs, excel, firefox, mails, GIMP, downloads including torrents, uploads to photo sites) to be run 90% of time.
4. I will be keeping my PC in non AC room, exposure heat/humidity of mumbai

My inclination:-
1. AMD Phenom II X6 1055t
2. USB 3 based motherboard with SB850 chipset.
have shortlisted a. M4A88TD V EVO and b. M4A89GTD-PROU3 or c. GA-890GPA-UD3H
3. A good PSU corsair 450 or 550
4. RAM, Cabinent etc... no inclination,

now my budget is 25k (bit flexible though), please suggest rig for my needs, and also I would love to hear comments (critics abt the part rig i am inclined to )

1.AMD Phenom II X6 1055T ~ 9.9k

2. MSI 880GMA-E45 ~ 5.7k

3. Corsair VX450 ~ 3.5k

4. Corsair XMS3 1600MHz 4GB Kit ~ 4.5k

5. NZXT Gamma ~ 2.2k

Total: ~26k

Thanks Darkangel,

I was thinking if i go for M4A88TD V EVO, which would be around 2k expensive than MSI 880GMA and saving money from RAM.

Would it be possible to buy one 2GB corsair DDR3 stick and then after 2 months buying another for making dual channel??? for dual channel we need same frequency RAM, thats it or anything more same is required??? timings/latencies??? but latencies can also be matched in future, or not possible???

one article in regard with question i have says "Your best bet is to buy a dual channel kit. It would be very hard to find 2 sticks of memory that are matching if bought separately. Not only are the sticks need to be exact in speed, latancy and size, they must come from the same batch.

Memory companies don't buy their chips from the same vendor all the time. They buy from different manufacturers that compete with prices. It is very posible to buy 2 sticks of memory that are from the same manufacture with the same part number, same speed, same latancy and same size but have different chip brands.

Dual channel kits are from the same batch and are tested for their compatibility, so they are gauranted to work with each other. "

dont know how much is it correct... experts kindly comment...

The Asus RMA service is supposed to be bad here in India, that is why most of the people here on TechEnclave recommend Gigabyte, MSI or Biostar.

Basically for Dual Channel setup, you need the RAM frequency to match, but if the brand and CAS delay, RAS delay timings are also matched, you get a really really minor increment to performance, here this should help

Dual-channel architecture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

as you will read, you will notice that even on the best most optimum rig the performance increment is n more than a 5 ~ 10%

ASUS is claiming ELITE2 service ( ELITE2 Service ) hope they keep their words.

Well friends, I have now made up my mind to buy PC in this weekend. Will go to Lamington road and buy from some shop.

Hey plz suggest when assembling processor (X6 1055t in my case) on to a motherboard (Asus in my case) do we have to buy the thermal cooling paste/gell? or does it comes along with the processor???

[dont know if i should post this question in CPU/mobo sub forum. but you guys can suggest me, should i go for assembling the processor on mobo there at shop ?

Hey friends,

Got the config I wanted. I am right now doing backup of my data, and after that will do fresh installment. I love linux, even in total new system environment (new mobo, proccy, ram ) it picked up good.

My purchase prices were:-

X6 1055t+Asus M4a89GTD pro USB3 = 19200

Corsair vx450=3600

Corsair 2*2GB kit 1600 Mhz = 4600

Cabinet with 3 fans, (never heard of this brand) FUEL= Rs 900

Total was 28k. It was sunday so couldnt find much shops open... may be you can get for still cheaper price...

The place from where I bought was, lamington road, just when the fly over finishes, cross the road there is a small shop with name "Challenger"...after looking in 5-6 shops I found these guys were selling things for good price... (may be their operational overheads was less, as small shop, no ACs, lesses manpower... )
