Hi Guys,

Had posted a while ago about upgrading my existing system for a golf sim. Now, I'm thinking of restarting flight sim too so further questions.

I did a lot of flight sim thru covid years. Have a 9600K with a 3080ti with 32gb RAM and was using a 2K 3 monitor setup. Was flying on X-Plane 11 and want give MSFS 2024 a shot.

Now planning 4k, so getting the 9800x3d, 64gb RAM but undecided about the GPU. Choices are

4070 ti Super
5070 ti
9070XT
7900xtx

All are within my budget.

Would really appreciate suggestions.

Please if you can stretch out a little more and get a 4080 or 4080 super, it'd really suit you better. Also, VR with flight sim is the way to go, if you plan to upgrade later and a 4080 would be ok with it without a lot of compromises in settings. 4k with the 70 series is a fair bit of settings optimization. I'm not sure about AMD cards as it is a windows optimized title.

Not worth buying 4080 or 4080 super at current market price.

GPU - 5070Ti at 1L vs 9070XT at 75k are the main choices. 5070Ti provides slightly higher raster fps, noticeably more RT fps & DLSS4 is better vs FSR4 (although FSR4 is better than DLSS3 now). Nvidia GPUs are better for most productivity tasks as well.

MSFS 2024 seems to favour AMD GPUs, so can buy 9070XT & save money.

Price drops will happen, but not sure by when. 9070XT might fall in price to 65k & 5070Ti might drop to 80-85k. Your call if you want to wait.

I can stretch but the 4080s have only 16gb VRAM, and from what I have seen MSFS does well with more VRAM. Might not do VR. I tried it last time around and preferred multiple monitors with trackir. Had bought a VR headset but sold it in a month or so.

I think so too

Why not the 7900xtx? Has 24gb VRAM and that's why it's best for MSFS right?

9070XT will outlast 7900XTX in the long run (unless it gets VRAM limited). Better RT is the main reason, games like Star Wars Outlaws have RT always on. 5-10% lower raster performance is not a lot to lose. Also, FSR4 is locked to Radeon 9000 for now, IMO it should support older RDNA3 GPUs like how Nvidia's core DLSS4 upscaling does (but frame gen doesn't), else it will affect FSR4 adoption in games.

Anyways watch more 9070XT & 5070Ti reviews & take the call.
