That was once upon a time....

emulators don't exist for modern systems.

After the N64 and PS1 we have been mostly starved of new emulators.

(UltraHLE for N64 was revolutionary!).

Lets see

PS2 emulators: pathetic

XBox: Plays Halo, but nothing else

GC: pathetic

Dreamcast: Mostly pathetic

forget about ever emulating PS3, Wii and X360.

So how am I supposed to play twilight princess?
 
Sonic the hedgehog sucks nowadays. Normally teams improve through time but Sonic team has only been getting worse as the generations go by. Must be that reverse aging cream they're using.

Also, emulators suck no less for anything but 8 or 16 bit stuff. I tried to get a Saturn one after my console went caput but no luck.
 
The saturn.... Sega's decline started there.

Amazing hardware and accessories, but no good...

I'm not that surprised actually. Every generation, the hardware leader has lost.

Loot at the Neo Geo, Atari Jaguar, 3DO, Turbogfx, Saturn, Dreamcast etc etc.

All high end by the standards of their time, and each one of them went down.

That is why PC gaming goes on. The PC has no competitor. Macs don't count.
 
The PC would go on even if it did have competitors. The reason simply being that the term PC is a constant. PC progress in gaming hardware is gradual but constant unlike consoles that are sudden and far between. So, we wouldn't ever see a PC2 or XPC ever being made.
 
Yes, but you can practically say you have a nextgen PC every 18 months or so. Not because of Moore's law - but because in that time frame they usually release some new SM version, dx version or something that means newer games require massive upgradation.

The fact is, there was a time when the PC had competitors, and at that time, most of the games were made for those platforms (original Mac Commodore Amiga).
 
Unlike consoles where next gen is decided with each successive console, next gen for PC is decided by a game that is graphically superior to all the others but even this is a flawed method of determination due to the fact that we tend to have a game\games like that every year.
