as i was going thru various gaming sites.......

i found most of them focusing more on PS3 and Xbox360 than PC

even the list of games available for the consoles surpasses the list of good games available to be played on PC.....

i always wished after going to some cyber gaming zones... why a pc cant have a game like Burnout: Paradise, Mortal Combat, Def Jam, WWE vs RAW,
etc.... ( many more are there )

even a company Like EA sports who gained its stronghold due to PC earlier has looosen on Pc`s side for worse !

for example:

NHL 08, MADDEN 08 for PC :*6 - 6.5* (gamespot score)

while
same for consoles have scores of 8.5 (Grrrr8) as well as many new features !! while the PC version is same as the PS2 version ! that also when they promised it wud be a next gen expirience... may be they did tat for Consoles...
i know games like crysis and assasins creed are due for PC.... but still
sometimes feel like PC is getttin behind.

a Company Like Microsoft which is gettin in multi billion dollar deals with many game developers to make games for its Xbox 360... is not doing the same for the DX 10 (or the upcoming 10.1).
developers complain of piracy in PC gaming Market...

but u can go to manish market and get an Xbox360 game for as low as 150 bucks.....
please .... Put some highlights on this issue !

i as an PC user from past 12 years... just cant believe it !
 
Wud certainly seem that way but PC saw past the SEGA's and Super Nintendo

at that point ppl said that wud be the end of PC gaming but look where we are today...

PC's is not made for gaming even though it makes for a amazing gaming device.

PC gaming will always be arnd and will only get bigger .

consoles finally have the power to compete with high end modern PCs. unlike PCs, Consoles are much flexible to develop with. since their specs remain static and hence can be optimized and tweaked more. PC gaming is expensive, developing engines takes years of time, at the same time, companies constantly push out new hardware every 9-12 months making it even more harder to develop for the PC. as people demand more realism, it takes more manpower and resources and hence more money. start-up small game devs don't have that kinda cash hence most of them focus on current gen consoles.

there are plenty of GREAT titles available for PC and that's never going to change. apart from the 2007 holiday rush, some notable titles:

Deus Ex 3

Jericho

The Darkness

CoH expansion and many more

have you ever tried playing WWE Raw on PC via keyboard and mouse? we have enough bad console ports as it is, you want games that were specially designed ground-up for consoles to be on PC? there's going to be much too horror on controls and graphics. now granted, there are controllers available for PCs but it's retarded to release a PC game and have it work only with controllers.

you need to learn that it's about the money and nothing else. companies don't care about you, me or random guy X. they care for the cash that sales brings. EA is a company which is famous for cookie-cutter titles and I don't think their greed for money is going to change that soon. I will give them credit though. they are trying. some of their newer titles are quite good and feel polished instead of regular rush-jobs.

EA rolls out incremental games every year. especially the EA SPORTS series.

No it isn't. PC is only progressing ahead. when people demand better visuals/realism they turn to PCs. PC's power will always surpass those of consoles and hence it will ALWAYS be the dominating platform

Microsoft has lots of fruits in it's basket. DX10 is what? It's not even ONE YEAR OLD! what do you expect? It took DX9 API 3 years to actually present some tasty visuals. it takes time to develop games, game developers aren't magicians, DX10 titles can't be summoned magically. they take time/money/manpower to make. you WILL SEE DX10 titles (we already got WiC,BioShock,Crysis,Hellgate etc) but it will take time, by 2009, all games will be DX10. as for DX10.1 it's irreverent at this time since it doesn't add better visuals and only updates things on dev side (like SM3.0)

Believe it. PCs have entered a new era. if you expect wonders to happen overnight, then you're sadly mistaking. either be patient or buy X360/PS3 and be done with it.
 
the market for console games is much bigger and is growing at a much faster pace than pc gaming

not that the PC gaming market would ever die...it is just that at the current rate, it would get relegated (if not already so) to a niche market segment and that's what explains the relative dearth of good titles on PCs

And why are we even discussing the superiority of the PC over consoles or vice versa...the question here is why is there a slump in the availability of good titles on the PC gaming platform
 
the way i look at it is that on single PC at home, it's only you who will be playing as a single player, while your friend who is also interested in playing can only watch you play, barring only a few games (PES, FIFA) wherein 2 of you can play on a single PC. Now can anyone beat an experience of playing splitscreen on a Console? i.e you can involve more than one person on a console. So i think with time Consoles would outsell PC's here too.

Lan and fr that matter even 100 ping SG servers are better then split screens :tongue:, and can u play anything other then sports titles & or beat em' ups on split screen ? :P

Ut Quake CS alone > Halo Mortal Combat, Def Jam, WWE vs RAW or any mp title fr that matter :ohyeah:

as EVOX said they are made wid consoles in mind, and if u like that kind of games then u need a console not a PC.

There is no slump, low production & casual games have been done away on PC(thank heavens fr that).....where is consoles have seen more releases fr both, games made exclusively wid consoleres in mind and games carried over frm the PC's. PC market is not shrinking(just check the upcoming releases), its more bout big quality titles now and no more "CHEAP" games(I dare say any1 try something like Deus Ex:Invisible War again :@)
 
Over the years I've seen the quailty of consoles improve tremendously(I've used Atari and the likes to Sega Dreamcast and what not)and people who don't want to mess with a PC slowly taking a liking to consoles. Even my friends who used to be into serious PC gaming are now recommending consoles.
But, IMO, pure console gaming will always be for the people uninitiated into or scared of computers....or those with a lot of cash to purchase titles.

nopes...consoles are meant for the general populace that does not have lot of cash to splurge on high end PCs or to keep upgrading their systems.

Also, you need to purchse titles with cash whether you are gaming on the PC or a console ;)

of late, it's been the other way around...high grade console games being ported over to PCs rather than the other way around....

As much as I regret the fact that PC gaming is being pushed into a corner, that's a fact that you and I need to accept.

Medal of Honor Airborne = 3 days of downloading or a Price of 1000-1200 bux & Gameplay of max 6hrs :no:

I played R6 Vegas in January & found only Bioshock good after it in August

February to July (6 months) of no good games on the PC while Xbox 360 was enjoying games like Gears of War, Top Spin 2, Lost Planet, Halo 2, WWE: Smackdown vs. Raw 2007, Dead or Alive 4 & many more

Top Spin 2, Lost Planet & Halo 2 are horrible on PC

even NFS Carbon is horrible

so if you wanna game buy a console :)
 
whats wrong with carbon ? :lol: i kinda liked it good game for TP and rarely crashed
 
This situation wont prevail for a longer time, basically these Next gen consoles are still new, & companies like Microsoft and Sony have invested billions of bucks for thier console, so they generally sign exclusive deals for more titles. Once this intial heat wears out u will find more titles for PC. Especially when developers start to utilize the power of DX10 visuals!!

Because PC games take time to develop. the reason being the constant evolution of hardware. most of the double A and triple A titles on PC are much more polished than their console competitors. Ofcourse I am not denying that there isn't crap-titles available on PC (torrente,ship simulator, uber soldier etc) but even the worst PC titles are slightly better than the worst console titles.

Pc gaming is not dying. it's alive and still kicking ass, and it will continue to do so.
I am seriously sick and tired of this. If pc gaming is dying, fine. go buy a console and quit whining. I would anyday prefer the polished 3 year titles on PC than the 8 month rush-jobs from EA on consoles. the grass is always greener on the otherside but the reality is something else. neither X360 or PS3 offer the graphics and sound of those found on PC. Hell, why are people on this thread complaining about Co-op MP and such? put simply, if one is so unsatisfied with the current status of PC gaming, why don't you go ahead and sell your PC and get PS3/X360/Wii? because hey, it's cheaper than buying hardware and pirated consoles games are much easily available.

The DARKNESS is coming for the PC ??? u sure of that???

PC gaming isn't that attractive anymore. Reason: n00bs crying for better visuals, and not caring enough for the actual gameplay.

I'm going back to micromanaging my AOE2 soldiers. Oh well!
