IMO Dev's prefer consoles as they have better copy protection. As and when some really good copy protection comes out for the PC then i think it may start to claw back some lost ground.

And it really is not fair to compare NFS:Carbon and MoH ariborne which are at best average games for the PC to gears of war and the like which are the alpha males of X360 games.

And besides RTS's are still best played on a PC.

Consoles have really weak copy protection, Xbox/PS2 games can be cracked via GameJackal in a snap. also, MoH - Airborne isn't average, it's the best MoH title released so far. Yes it's short and has consolized visuals but notwithstanding that, it's a blast to play. you're spot on about RTS on PCs. I can't imagine playing Warhammer or AoE via gamepad ;)

carbon gives horrrible framerates with Windows vista and 8800GTS 640 :P

may be compatibility issues :D

@Evox

i am grateful to you for ur such a splendid reply and highlighting various
points which can easily make on believe that PC still rocks AS an GAMING Machine !!
but i may say a few things here :

first of all even i love PC as an total work doer !

it can play games as well as do various things which u want it to do for urself , which still cant be matched by the consoles !

for the very same reason i purchased a graphic card worth 18.5k... which if i wud had added some money innn..... cud have bot an console.

i am myself aware of games list which are going to come for the PC platform !(had opened a thread with a full list of upcomin games for PC)
but when compared to The console gaming ,titles are less ...... by a big margin !
time between launches of quality games is very high.....
MOH: Airborne... No doubt an awesome game... but felt bad when i completed it in 4 hrs only.... i expected a bit more out of such a good game !

BIOSHOCK was one game which made me believe again that still PC gaming exists !

I never stated that PC gamin is already DEAD.... the thing is that it has paced down in competition !
lets see how it shapes up in near future !!!!
Thank you everyone for ur replies in this thread

Because PC games take time to develop. the reason being the constant evolution of hardware. most of the double A and triple A titles on PC are much more polished than their console competitors.

I would anyday prefer the polished 3 year titles on PC than the 8 month rush-jobs from EA on consoles.

says it all,

take production time of titles like Bioshock, UT series, Quake series, Half- Life, Crysis, Black & White, Spore, Tf2, Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo, Baldurs Gate, Elder Scrolls etc etc and compare. :P

high grade console games being ported over to PCs rather than the other way around....

there have been only 2 - 3 high grade titles on the consoles ever, which are appealing to BOTH PC & Console gamers. And name ONE such title which has is A HIGH GRADE CONSOLE GAME PORTED OVER TO THE PC?

Lan and fr that matter even 100 ping SG servers are better then split screens , and can u play anything other then sports titles & or beat em' ups on split screen ? :P

Ut Quake CS alone > Halo Mortal Combat, Def Jam, WWE vs RAW or any mp title fr that matter :ohyeah:

i know someone would point this out, i am saying when one is sitting at home, would plugging a Console to a Flat screen and then playing the games with friends be easy, or getting together some PC's and then creating a LAN would be easy, go figure yourself :bleh:

LAN anyday fr any 1 who even has a slight knowledge of computers. Just plug & play & install Borgchat, u are gud to go. Not to mention that'll allow more variety of genres and he won't have to cut his screen in half :P

How about buying legitmate titles and playing MP over the Internet? like it's meant to be played. LAN requires too many resources, and the only people who really use LAN are the ones that are too cheap to buy a quality title. now granted, the whole status of Broadband Penetration, Pings and Hosting servers is something itself. furthermore, cussing someone on the Internet is much easier to get away with. try saying "blow me" to the guy sitting next to you in a LAN party;)

MoH titles are known for nonsense shooting. there never was any storyline in any MoH game. It was just briefing room>dropped in the midst of action. Infact, Compared to Earlier MoH titles, I'd say Airborne has considerably progressed in the storytelling and presenation department. If you want gritty serious storylines, MoH is the last game one should look for. Now Brother in Arms franchise, those are games that have awesome storytelling :) sorry If I sound a bit defensive:)

nopes...consoles are meant for the general populace that does not have lot of cash to splurge on high end PCs or to keep upgrading their systems.

Also, you need to purchse titles with cash whether you are gaming on the PC or a console ;)

Also a valid point. Given what one has to spend to get decent FPS in new games, consoles might be a better option.
But I don't agree that a console is meant for the general public. A family will always vote for a PC over a console as they will find it more VFM in terms of what a PC can do vs the fact that a console is only for gaming(I know they can do a lot more nowadays but still). Plus a console doesn't come cheap. Try convincing your dad to spend 30K on a gaming m/c vs spending that amount on a PC ;) .

The target market for consoles is families that already own a PC

(e.g. most families in US/Europe/Japan or most urban families in India)

A console is not meant to be a substiute for a PC na

Hey friends, I'm sure you might be aware AMD has come up with its PC gaming site. So after acquiring ATi they are looking forward to serious PC gaming biz. DX10 specs, OS (XP or Vista) and Piracy are the chief reasons for lesser PC game titles. As far as I know, a good game title takes minimum one to two years to develop. So you know gestation period is bit long. And we tend to finish games faster, eh?:)

Doh! Just my 2 cents:ashamed:
